My 'Grumpy Weather' app sums things up.

(Hope the language isn't too colourful. I just found this amusing).

We do have the tinniest flurry here.

Well, I think I'll put this cold spell to bed now. I saw a couple of flakes of snow yesterday, so it was quite impressive by modern standards.

The BBC forecast calls for sleet to rain tomorrow, and we're even struggling to get a frost during this 'cool snap'.

I'm hoping late Feb' or March might give us something better, certainly can't be much worse.

WE really have had a terrible run of bad luck the past 4 years haven't we? Hopefully 2012 wasn't the last hurrah for winters in this country.:sorry:

Never used to be though, everyone I know agrees, Stafford used to be so snowy, we all know something has changed, to allow cold spells to be less frequent and less cold, since the late 90's

Solar activity has played a big part in this, I'm adamant. It reached record levels throughout that period. Interestingly we saw loads of snow in the winters of 2008/09, 09,10 and Dec 2010, around the time with hundreds of days with a spotless sun. Definitely a key player in our winter weather and I've heard many times on Gavin partridges weather videos going by his own words that low solar activity increases the chances of northern blocking.

Nothing here doesn't even feel cold outside.

all the people in the MOD thread make me smile, they are always looking 5 to 10'days ahead and miss the short term changes, they were comcerned yesterday that the cold spell would end next week, they didn't notice it would end tomorrow or even really get started.

A nice day of drizzle to look forward to tomorrow :(

Still going but lighter now,  but a nice surprise, left a thin covering on all surfaces. Hopefully a positive sign for us all in terms of potential over the next 24 hours.

Got a pic but can't seem to upload it from phone!

Think the heavy flurry we had originated in the streamer coming through S Yorkshire and Notts currently, think it's going to reach us here in the Mids, albeit probably very light and patchy.

(From the Southeast chat, hi!)

I'm keeping an eye on that atm aswell, looks like this could be the start of any snow for alot of people as its developing to the south of it further thickening it.. Could be a surprise snowfall for a few today across England from this if it doesn't die off as it hits land.

Yes I've been looking at that big mass, trying to work out if that is the band that is going to arrive (snow or rain?) overnight into tomorrow morning, or has it come early? Or is it a nice surprise???

0.5 degrees here
