Thanks DWW - same from me to everyone in The Midlands thread!.

For the last month I've been computerless with a problem in the network adapter card.

Left it with a local 'fixer' whilst I was on hols.. He ended up losing all my data!!

To make matters  worse I have  been unable to re-build the system due to software I was using being unavailable now.

I've ended up with Firefox for my browser and Thunderbird as my Email agent.

With about 30  passwords to remember, Ive had real  problems setting  things up again.

I still have many apps I have not yet re-installed.

At least now I have Email, I am able to start setting things up!

Let it be a warning to everyone.!!

Back in August my motherboard went tits up, my mate is a web designer and at first he said it was a simple matter of a new motherboard, except he then told me mine was outdated in which then had to be rebuilt.... Got SSD now...its lighting fast, but yes a month without it was a pain in the back side, had to do all off my phone, anyway your back and happy days MIA:santa-emoji:

Christmas day tied with last year as the mildest on record here with a maximum of 11.9c. Boxing day won't do the same though as the maximum last year was a remarkable 12.3c.

Minimum overnight of -4.1C with transient fog patches.

Temp still at -3.0C at 9:30 , though the sun is now beginning to get a bit higher and is starting to melt frost  (10:30)  on the sun facing trees..

Still a beautiful day.

frosty countryside under a low sun.Second only to snow.

Sometimes it is good to get out there and enjoy the now away from computer weather charts.

Mind you the 12z runs are eagerly awaited!

Having moved down from Rochdale, I await the winter weather watch in Shropshire with great anticipation... hoping for great things given the current models lol

After a sunny and almost cloudless day, fog is now spreading up from the valleys where it's hung about all day; it's up to the 230m level already after none at all half and hour ago.

today day of rime frost, very similar to Thurs 29th Dec '05, where next day turned milder with a whimper,

still snowless winter here, not looking like any in next 2 weeks either

This forthcoming Sunday into Monday has a great possibility of seeing the first snowfall of winter for most here in the Midlands.

I think we're all expecting for it come tumbling down over the next few days anyway. I don't think anyone has any true expectations after the last 3 years' letdowns. I'll keep an eye on it though :-P

Agreed... far to many expectations that have lead  but I'm quietly confident that we may see something in 3 to 4 days time:good:

graphe_ens3_kor8.gifNice little spike there in the precipitation and the 850hpa looking good but it'll be down to timing if you ask me  :cold:

BUT!.....yes still again don't we know it.....3 years of :cray:

Well, looks like the possible back edge snow , has disappeared for Sunday night now. First disappointment of the coming 'cold spell'?

At least we should get some good frosts :-p

Just been out on my bike and quickly discovered that my immediate locality is a very small island of sunshine in a sea of thick fog. Temp' is 5.8c here but it was only 2 to  3c in the fog.

A glorious day here in the Peak District. the world sure did look stunning first thing this morning with thick frost covering everything. crunchy under foot too, the charts are looking good apart from that poxy UKMO it needs to start towing the line soon, just remember guys and girls do not tell anybody in the family about the upcoming cold spell until t48 or it will go pear shaped. i hope we all get buried in the white stuff over the next few weeks.:cold:

A strange day with bright winter's sunshine with pockets of quite dense fog mixed in. Looked quite atmospheric at times.

Temperatures on the rise now as we head into couple of days of more average temperatures. Looks like Sunday will be a fly in the ointment for what continues to be a remarkable dry period weather. This dry theme seems to have continued on since late September. Only interupted a few times by Atlantic weather.

As for the chances of a cold/snowy spell in early January? Until I see all weather models/experts/amatuers/forecasters/human generated forecasts/computer generated forecasts/my sister-in-law who is the oracle on everything agreeing...then I couldn't comment! And even if they do all agree that's still no guarentee!

Looks like the chance of snow tomorrow night has totally gone now, so we shall remain trapped in the monotonous boredom of the past three years.

The so called 'big snowy, cold spell' shown with earnest over the last few days, seems to be fast turning into nothingness, with the same low pressure which should have given us snow on Sunday, conspiring with another low in the Atlantic to push the HP eastwards across us, killing off the northerly chances in the process.

God I'm bored of UK weather now!   :nonono:
