After such a boring anticyclonic winter, we are finally getting a bit of weather before the season ends. I miss the wintry strong winds.

Couldn't agree more although it looks like the winds won't be as strong here. Still at least it's something different.

Nice to hear the strong winds for a change, but don't appreciate my sleep being cut short by two hours!

Its turning into quite a wet February here. We're currently on 71.8mm which is 169% of normal. Its already the wettest since 2001 and another 2.5mm will make it the wettest since 1977.

After all that it hasn't been such a dry winter overall with 86% of normal rainfall (so far).

I don't mind it being the same as 1975/76 if it continues for summer:D Are we dryer than 05/06 I wonder?

Interesting to note how very similiar to winter 91/92 it has ended up, indeed its been a very similiar winter overall to 91/92, some cold frosty conditions at time, but virtually no snow to speak of, or stormy very wet weather bar a little blip christmas, and more recently.

What can I say - we've landed up with the fourth mild winter in a row after a bitter January. I would sacrifice a summer for a good winter.

Cant say that summer has any interest for me at all. Despite some gloomy ones summer ALWAYS produces days of sunshine and heat - its only a question of how many. Agree with you absolutely - would sacrifice any number of "warm" summers just to get a decent cold winter.

Absolutely! Can't stand heat and there never seems to be a shortage of uncomfortably warm days for me. Would gladly do away with the lot for a decent snow event each winter :D

'bitter' January, I guess this was tongue in cheek?

I would have said the same a few years ago but now.. not a chance. In fact, I would gladly never see snow again if I could guarantee every summer in the UK until I die was consistently warm and sunny. Like 2013 or 2014 every year (2006 seems unrealistic).

Warm, yes, hot, no. 30c+ is unnecessary, debilitating and uncomfortable, 22-25c is fine by me.

Yeah, that's my ideal.

Also plenty of thunderstorms - a man can dream, lol.

Anyway, I think this thread may as well be closed now! Onwards into spring...

Just to add, if you wish to discuss the 'winter' (I use the term loosely!) then there is the summaries thread here:
