Already starting to see the tops of the Midlands storms from here now, if they intensify as expected into the evening it'll be a good light-show for these parts.

Lying on the grass looking up and I'm right under the very edge of the developing Midlands storms. Out west clear. Towards Telford darkening rapidly. Looks good.

Heavy rain here now..looks like tiny little popup storms in the area. Shouldn't think it'll last long.

Storm that was over Coventry has died as quickly as it went up.

Blimey !!! 2 days on the trot and met office warnings for storms over us for Thursday and Friday . I believe the summer 2016 storm drought has well and truly ended .

Indeed. Thunder in June and September...summer finishing off the way it started!

Estofex suggesting that isolated cells could go on into the night due to the decent mid level CAPE :) looks like a brilliant night for clear cut distant lightning! Let's hope this is the start.

the warnings for Friday I think are not really for storms they indicate some locally very heavy and thundery rain which refers to intensity , Lightning is not even mentioned the forecast tomorrow is different but since this area is warned now unlike today and yesterday I wouldn't be surprised if that was the day to be dry

damn quoted wrong post

was actually replying to this

Gordon;

The bird on BBC East Midlands 7pm Weather said "Thursday overnight into Friday morning a line of torrential thunderstorms will cross the country from west to east" "The morning commute could be really messy!"
