Oh lovely!

So we have today - pouring rain with the odd clap of thunder

then tomorrow a damp grey day!

Still... at least people get their 'much needed rain'..... pfft

It's the weather. The rain is needed. Don't be such a drama queen

It seems to have worst affected areas with a bit of elevation mostly and places north south west and west of london- elevation the key? reminds me of winter when the same areas NW London, the Chiltern and Surrey downs etc get all the snow on a north westerly through the cheshire gap while most of kent and essex get very little if any at all

got off lightly here it seems, rain started around 7 and looks to be buggering off already. suits me as i need to do some angle grinding outside today.

typical though, working indoors all week then one small job outside....

Just had a heavy burst of rain on the school run, back to drizzle again now.

The cold front looks to have killed it rather than fed it, thought as much, that's what happens in the plains in america, storms build in front of a cold front and then get killed by it when it hit's them.

I take it that any thundery activity is now done with? I thought the rain/storms were meant to be clearing slowly to the east during the day, but electrical activity looks confined to the North of the region, Thetford/Fakenham at the moment...does anyone know if we are expecting anything else thundery through the day further south...or is it just rain now?

No storms, or even a sniff or rain here. What the eff, Medway storm shield?

Awful year for storms.

I was surprised to see the cell develop nr Ely tbh. General forecasts only had moderate rain for some parts of Norfolk. Has got a bit darker here in the last 10 mins or so.

The Met Off forecast issued this morning is still forecasting some storm activity for this afternoon. http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast-video/21416743

However, I've looked at the high res charts for this afternoon and they show instability falls away (becomes less favourable), suggesting storm activity lessens as the day goes on. We'll see.
However, folks in eastern counties (me included in Suffolk) who currently haven't seen much or any rain might be advised to wait until later today - they could yet receive a soaking! The high res charts are forecasting plenty of the wet stuff yet to come!

We live in the UK - The rain is never needed. It rains all the time. Wishing away dry weather is absurd

Drama Queen? I think the ones who cry they need rain after a couple weeks dry weather are the drama queens.

Only raining lightly now. Good to see the heavier echoes on the radar dissipating over Hertfordshire, hopefully it will improve further this afternoon.- We have an end of summer work party tonight in Covent Garden - Really don't want delays traveling in.

Still waiting here - the hook of rain is still circling us like some sort of joke - really intense now over Norfolk, but pish all here. I will continue waiting! I think it might just rain here, without going pop.

On my farm it will make the difference of about £3000 whether we get much rain or not in the next week....so it matters to me, and many other farmers/growers.

Amazing - active nr Brandon, dies off over Norfolk and re-invigorates off the coast - now very active. You really couldn't make it up....

Finally hammering down here and windy with the temp at a cool 13.5C. Brrrr! :)

The radar shows the rain band has reinvigorated over the last 2 hours, but the Blitzortung site shows no lightning over the UK now. I do wonder why the Met Office were still forecasting storm activity into the afternoon when 3 high res models were suggesting not?
