Finding it hard to get into the Olympics, not the same when it isn't IMBY:oops:

You probably should have started your training a bit earlier lassie23. It's too late to get in now.

Lol I'm hoping a doughnut eating contest replaces Golf in four years time, either that or the 5 m sprint, I'm ahead of schedule with my training on both:good:

Have you tried the bbc app to find your olympic match --> http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/36984887

Perhaps we should start a thread in the lounge for it.

I'm either a handball player, or somewhat worryingly; a discuss thrower.

Katherine Grainger and partner V. Thornley win Silver in the double sculls rowing.

Wow, that's her 5th Olympics I believe, 4 silvers and a gold in London.

Btw, how good were the Kiwi men, Bond + Murray. Gold again in Coxless pairs.

Unbeaten in 68 races !

6 golds for team GB.

That's more golds won than at any of the Olympics from 1960 to 1996.

So it's already a good Olympics for team GB in terms of our involvement of the modern Olympics.

I think we have settled for silver in the rugby

Yes,  we were well beaten in this final yesterday, but it was great to get Silver.

I was chuffed for Fiji, winning Gold, their first ever medal.

It is very touching I think to see the victorious team in their circle huddle singing the gospel song

to celebrate.

The women's 10K was unreal. A new world record beating the previous record by over 14 seconds, and 36 seconds quicker than the 3rd fastest time ever.

29:17.45 Almaz Ayana (ETH) 12 August 2016 Rio de Janeiro

29:31.78 Wang Junxia (CHN) 8 September 1993 Beijing

29:53.80 Meselech Melkamu (ETH) 14 June 2009 Utrecht

Edit: And her previous personal best was 30:07. Crazy.

1904, lol

It's really quite remarkable how well Team GB have done in recent years. This new generation of athletes must be really good.

I think a lot of it has to do with lottery funding. Lottery began at the back end of 1994.
