The gun man is now dead and Satan is looking forward to stick his trident in nasty places. Sadly three innocent people dead and sixteen injured.

And now the death of Arnaud Beltrame, who in the tradition of Police Forces throughout the world put his life on the line in order that others may be saved.

I find it particularly sad and poignant since we knew Trèbes reasonably well having passed through it on many occasions, either to Carcassonne airport or to 'La Cité', sometimes stopping for a meal or a drink

It is an attractive village on the outskirts of Carcassone, next to le Canal de Midi, quite the last place where you would expect anything like this to happen.

Quite rightly Arnaud is being hailed as a hero and being afforded the greatest honours France can give this very brave man who was an example to us all, unfortunately posthumously.

I have the greatest sympathy for his family, his colleagues and friends who must be very shocked and traumatised by this sad turn of events.

Sympathies also to the others, their families, colleagues and friends, who also lost their lives through this terrible turn of events.

It also shows that wherever we are we must remain vigilant against this scourge in the midst of us all.

May all of them rest in peace.

The ongoing euro crisis has never been and will never be solved. The native European populations are shrinking and this will have a consequence for the economy, production and public finance.

The economic press and mainstream analysts somehow do not get it and still believe that countries that will see their native population shrinking by 30% in the next thirty years can increase their GDP.

The Italian President Sergio Mattarella blocked the creation of a new government to protect the investors outside Italy and give them the opportunity to proceed another year with the shipping of Africans into Italy. It will not change the long-term perspective and while economic academics still believes it is all about economics and competitiveness, we'd rather say "It is the demographics, stupid".
