You bet me to it,i was just about to say a star is born lol

also to add, isn't this initiation a bit further west than some models predicted, this little cell could produce nothing and more may/will develop further east,we shall see soon.

Morning, stupid body clock! Usually up around 5:30am every day today is different!

My thoughts looking at all the latest bits this morning is if we draw a line from Bournemouth through to the wash anyone along that line and 30 miles north and south of that line is in for a shot. IF we get storms to fire

Estofex I'm assuming they are going for a slightly different outcome than others.

Anything that does fire and can grow not getting it's energy cut off, could become fairly severe IF the conditions are prime. Would expect some pretty hefty hail and strong wind gusts.

Well I'm awake again but I see it's still AQOTPF !

Wondering whether to go back to sleep...

Quick question - is initiation supposed to start over land or sea?

Just discovered that sat24 doesn't show clouds at this time in a morning!

It does, but there is a time gap in the very early hours you need to make sure it's got "infrared" set on and not "visual" to it is light.

Firing of storms may happen over land or sea maybe not at all!

Here seem photos I just took:

I am currently in Blackpool with the kids but heading home today. Models seem in agreement now that some storms should develop and push NE. They are not in agreement over where and when though. My weather app has thunderstorms over Derby this evening but that isn't the most accurate tool.

Bit of Accas starting to form over here now

Looking at the radar, there is a band of showers from Exeter up to Swindon and also some very heavy rain around the Luton area

Waiting for Cafe to open but it's interesting to see the developing cloud . Skies were almost clear about an hour ago.

just a waiting game now although I would put NW London in the hot-spot for today taking into account wind direction, CZs and potential insolation / areas with minimal cloud.

itsone of those situations where I guess you don't want anything too early to leave a scuddy trail behind it and ward off energy from the sun, but equally you don't want nothing to happen at all!

unfortnately I haven't got all day to radar watch and I'm definately not making anymore trips up north from here.

It's local chasing for local storms today. One last hurrah before Autumn kicks in.

Come on weather do your shizzle!

BBC seem to think that the best storms will be concentrated approximately SE of a zone from IOW to the Wash during the afternoon. They do not agree with GFS/NMM in bringing storms through the Midlands later in the day but do bring some heavy showers across N England (no real mention of these being thundery though). From a selfish POV I am hoping GFS/NMM are on the money.

Some forecasts place Derby in the firing line but others don't. If there is going to be something later then it needs to hold off until late afternoon so that I am back in time :)

As I have said in the SE thread, woke up to dark and cool and some mist, which soon cleared. Then out of no where a crack of thunder and it was most certainly thunder even although no strike recorded on any map at the moment. Very small cell close to me, but no rain and now the sun is coming out.

Edit ; 3 strikes recorded by blitzortung

Just watched the BBC weather forecast at work, and the words "intense thunderstorms " was used for the SW up through the midlands later this afternoon!!.We'll just have to wait and see.
