Great skies toward Birmingham - currently near Leamington. Now casting for a bit and just figuring what the heck to do!

I would wait around that area, maybe travel a bit further north? got a feeling something will form around there in a hour or two...

I think you may have a bit of a wait as any thundery activity is not really due until the early hours of tomorrow morning, but you would likely need to be further west than where you are currently. Having said that and as we know from experience, thunderstorms and plumes are very unpredictable.

Was there any drops hitting the ground, looks like there may be a few drops being produced in that first one.

Not that I could feel, although a fellow TWO member in Glossop has reported light rain falling from AcCas there.

Looking at XC Weather and there is some convergence zones perhaps developing, one over the centre of Ireland and one over Northern parts of Wales, it will be interesting how the rainfall will interact with all this and see if that rain over Ireland will start to turn more heavier and thundery.

For those who don't know, convergence zones are where winds are blowing from opposite directions but towards each other so for example ---> <---- - when you see the arrows on XC Weather showing that, then the chances of thundery activity could well increase.

Didn't think the screw zone sounded good for us. Not entirely surprised. Very still and exceptionally humid though and I have a headache I am struggling to shake off. Looks like this energy will come to nothing sadly here though.

It's worth noting we have some quite significant AcCAS banding here, and in general skies are quite dark to the south and southwest. There is also an orange hue to the light to the southwest, suggesting the setting sun is reflecting off a substantial cloud structure on the horizon.

I'm not very good with cloud types but from clear blue skies most of today to this now.....not even sure it means anything to be fair.

The MetO have updated their warnings, not a great deal has changed, but a slight nudge further North.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
