So, this rain band thats rattled up and through the Midlands (see screenshot) That isn't supposed to be the thundery stuff for us Midlanders, is it?

The electric stuff is now starting to form behind it, and in the channel, and then starting to fire up?

So, I reckon these t/storms will arrive around Leicester around 14:30 Does that sound about the right sort of ball park? Or am I in the ball pit!!

Well after my question last night about when would we be likely to see some precipitation in beds I can confirm that at 8.30am it was torrential for around 10mins then hail for about 5mins following then the sun came out.

At 5.30am this morning it was thick fog but that cleared around 8am.

Not so great when you're out on your bike for 3.5hours!

May have the surface heating, but if you got no trigger it means diddly squat, I'm thinking that might be the issue today

I'm reserving judgement to be honest - the Beeb graphics do show some precip across London/Home Counties later on under high CAPE (plus the sun is staying out pretty much here with the breeze picking up) - some of the Ac blanket moving in is thin with some tentative verticality to it. There's some albeit small chance

The Thunderstorm Cake.

Hot Oven

Gallons Of Moisture

Tons Of CAPE

10 Tablespoons Of Lift Or Wind Convergence

Cook On High Oven For 2 Hours

Hail/Rain To Taste!

Am I missing any ingredients, or is there a better reciepe?

Voila!!

If storm initiation is already to the east of you & you are already too far west, then it is likely you will stay too far west throughout the day.

Convective activity is forecast to slowly transfer NNE throughout the day.

The MetO have adjusted their warnings, and looking at various outputs yesterday, it makes sense. What doesn't make sense, is saying the South and Southeast won't even see a light shower..

Definitely LOTS of moisture in the air, got soaked this morning within 20mins of leaving the front door and it wasn't even raining......

Looking forward to a good light show then! (fingers crossed)

Yay!! I'm inside the warning zone now - as (even more so) are you @Surrey

Sferics now showing broadly along the M4 corridor area, the leading edge of the proper plume I would guess

Doesn't feel stormy at all here, just very overcast, but it's really starting to kick off in the channel which is giving me hope!

The current state of play with storms firing over southern England....A multicell cluster moving into Dorset looks quite potent.....steering flow is currently shifting storms northwards..
