Just had an epic light show here for around 20 minutes. Near continuous lightning.

Incredible number of flashes, far more than detectors are indicating. Was almost at 80 a minute a while back. Only one cg seen out of all the strikes and calmed down very quickly in the last 5 minutes.

Hope not I want some sleep, that was interesting, storm it's self hasn't hit here yet, but the cloud is over us and the lightning was going through it. Completely dry here.

You have a few hours sleep.the Cherbourg cell is awake:),and there are a few more cells developing ahead of that, could be a lively night in the SE.

Not sure I'm expecting anything else tbh, guess we'll see. Does look like that cold front is finally moving east though, tomorrow might be a more comfortable day.

Looking forward to it,it has been a nightmare with the heat and humidity, next week is looking a tad fresher but the latest models do show some warmth midweek next week, hopefully go with a bang cos this plume has delivered b****r all,again:nonono::lazy:.

Might need one anyway, from all he rain that's falling. Incidentally it's just started raining now, the storms long gone.

The storm that just gone into the north sea off Canterbury, has developed a "worm wound" you'll see what I mean from the screen grab attached.... Is this the storm expanding 360' not just moving in the one direction.......?

Omg! Another little storm here, has exploded in activity as it came over. As it came towards strikes were only once every couple of minutes or so, but all strikes were massive cgs, one extremely close.

Now all lightning is back to being high up and flashing every 2-3 seconds. Some extremely heavy rain also. :-)

So it's Netweather's fault? Or is it your fault because you live in a country that doesn't always deliver on the storm front?

Everytime there's a threat of storms I see the same people getting overly excited and then getting narky when it doesn't transpire exactly how they'd decided it was going to. Sad really.

Well, I slept through everything, but looking at that radar shot, I wouldn't have heard/seen anything anyway

Bugger all happened apart from a bit of rain, and a distant rumble that you needed elephants ears to hear lol

In Benfleet anyway! Quite a bit of action down in Kent

OK, so yesterday was flipping unbearable. 36c and clear skies. Hottest part of the country, no rain, no storms, nothing. Just sweltering, boiling, melting, sticky, sweaty, uncomfortable, smelly, disgusting relentless heat. Trying to sleep last night (it was still 30c indoors way past midnight) was pretty difficult to say the least. Looks like any storm potential for this weekend for my area has disappeared after looking so promising a couple of days ago. Yeah, I'm fed up. Sorry if I'm being overly negative, just venting my frustration at what has been the worst summer for storms, while simultaneously having the highest temeratures I can ever remember.

I am happy for others that got to see something though. Please send some of your luck my way!

What an incredible early hours that was in east kent,  some of the most vivid lightning I've seen for some time and completely unforcasted by the met to that extent as well!

Does anyone have the radar grabs between 2-3am? and 4-5.30am
