Wow i said earlier potential for well scattered thunder showers then checked now and see that beast in the east. Im so envious already wishing for another plume...

Hopefully the next plume is only 10 days away or so. Have learned from this event about matching CZs and timings. Want another go - horrible we had the highest temps and no payoff ! :wallbash:

Wow, what the hell just happened, just when i think its a bust, lightning constantly flashing and undetectable rumbles of thunder because it was just boom after boom, and hail the size of £2 coins, i'm trying not to swear but that was ruddy amazing.

Oh no! The winds have changed to the east! YOU CANT DO THIS TO NORWICH!

It's weakening quite significantly over Norfolk - south Suffolk and the far north-west corner of Norfolk/south-east corner of Lincolnshire are getting the worst (best?) of it.

Expect to hear reports of storm damage in north-central Suffolk, the cells continued to redevelop further south so that the southernmost cell was generally the most severe at any point in time, that would give a southeastward trend to the damage reports although cells continue to move more due east. Just north of Ipswich to southwest of Lowestoft looks to get the worst of this now.

whats Portsmouth chances of a thunderstorm toinght

Laughable ... Because I'll be driving back that way - hahhahaha

Being serious for a minute tho, the CZ does seem to be due a southern shift but not far enough to work for you, however there does appear to be a slither of cumulus cloud from IOW diagonally up toward south London if u look on Sat24.

you need to remember though, that at this time of the evening you'd be a fool to put too much faith in anything happening ;-)

Yes, it is - I'm on LightningMaps.org, which (I think) use Blitzortung data.

Ok I'm off home. No more punishing myself. Lessons have been learned, lightning has been missed and photos remain untaken.

However, there are beers still to drink in the sunshine and joy to be had in the company of others... Stay safe!

:good:

Dash_Cam_Thunderstorm.jpg

This is a screenshot of driving earlier from my dashcam, of what I suspect to be the Suffolk monster. This was taken in Oxfordshire (a long way away, right?) but looking north-east.....there was towers all around this huge stretching anvil and mammatus under the anvil too. I could have taken some fantastic photos but didn't get a chance to stop.

EDIT again: Taken in far-eastern Oxfordshire heading towards Thame.

East Anglia and south Lincolnshire are, but there are none on radar south of Suffolk - not really SE.
