Judging by the sferic activity showing on Blitzortung it appears to me a CZ is forming (hence eroding the cap)

Sorry Harry, what's a CZ?

Radar shows large hail in a swath from near Cambridge across Bury St Edmunds to Eye (the eye of the storm?) and this will continue due east, possible tornado in this complex.

Rear end of the cell as it heads North East. Nothing but blue sky above and behind.

If you're in Beccles now, you'll be hit with a severe storm in about half an hour, I think. Cameras ready.

Heard a few deep booms out of it. It's wrenching my gut watching this lot go before my eyes, but wow! 204 per minute :O

Heading my way - very dark to my SW and the first thunder heard.

Reminds me of the track that belter of a storm took last Lear as it moved out of north-west London into Essex and into the North Sea. Similar sort of storm too, I bet you'll be seeing anvil crawlers for a long time as it moves away

Was just driving east from Oxfordshire to Bucks and Christ almighty I saw some explosive convection, the most explosive convection I've ever seen.....towers going up all over the horizon, well-defined cumulus congestus and some MASSIVE anvils with mammatus underneath. I can only guess that this may be the huge cell that was moving across Essex into Suffolk now and is currently tearing the place up. I wanted to stop and take some photos but couldn't see anywhere to pull in really. Must be some real high CAPE amounts today.

Occasional loud thunder, and undulatus clouds on the underside of the fringes of the cumulonimbus approaching me as I type.
