Screw zone is American weather weenie terminology for that unfortunate area where timing and lack of dynamics may mean that nothing much happens while around there are storms at some point in time. In other words, storm lovers get screwed if they live in a screw zone. My choice was that area too far ahead to get the overnight outbreak and too far west to have suitable instability by the time storms kick off along the cold front tomorrow. Let's hope it's a very small screw zone indeed, like one town near Coventry.

He'll be fine! My Border Collie who died last August had congestive heart failure, but he resisted the indignity of wet towels and showers to the end, and I just let him do what he wanted to do. Most of what he did was totally contrary to the vet. advice, like wanting to play ball in over 30c - but that was what kept him happy.

Regarding storms, Spike would watch with me. Sit by my side, inside or outside and pan his head to the lightning. He did get excited by loud thunder at times, and that was problematic if we were outside in the middle of the night and were trying not to wake the neighbours. We camped in Dordogne one summer and had an incredible night of storms - all the dogs around the valley started howling and Spike joined in. We went to bed in the tent, but the storm woke us only to realise that there was no Spike in the tent! We went out to search and found him sitting by a caravan and looking up at the sky to get a better view of the lightning!!!

aw bless :)

Go to:

www.cloudappreciationsociety.org

Professional and informative, but fun too...

Or download the "cumulus and co" app. from Météo France. Does the UK MO have something similar?

Great skies toward Birmingham - currently near Leamington. Now casting for a bit and just figuring what the heck to do!

I think you may have a bit of a wait as any thundery activity is not really due until the early hours of tomorrow morning, but you would likely need to be further west than where you are currently. Having said that and as we know from experience, thunderstorms and plumes are very unpredictable.

Sweltering in South Wales!!!! :shok: .... 326c, stay safe :D
