Higher temps probably providing the required lift.

5 minutes of mad weather here near Southampton. Couple of lightning flashes. Wind went mental for a bit with debris in the air. Windows in the house slammed shut made us jump! Wouldn't be surprised to see some local with D damage

Well the m25 was completely jammed at Dartford so I did a bit of spur of the moment stormchasing as there was a storm tracking east nearby. Lots of lightning, torrential rain and some marble sized hail. We have reached the other side and are having a drink at Folkestone services now watching the storm move in.

OK, so on the way back I stopped several times to photograph some huge cells. Cells pretty much in every direction! I have some pics I took to make a panorama as I can't see an option for that on my new phone. When I get a minute I'll see if I can edit those pics and join them into one image. For now enjoy the pics below...

Nice storm came through here around an hour ago, a good 8-10 flashes and rumbles and some pea sized hail mixed in. :)

Very heavy shower has just passed through accompanied with 3 cracks of thunder. It still looks stormy out to my west, so perhaps further showers/thunderstorms are brewing. Very windy, which seems to have been a feature of this year. Are we ever going to enjoy a calm day again?

Kind Regards

Dave

Just keeping an eye on the radar some bright echoes to the west just maybe it'll keep it's strength and do something as it passes over the moors.

It sure is blustery today I agree! Clouds and storm cells seem incredibly fast moving this afternoon.

And the shortest hail shower I have ever known lol, less than 10 seconds of small pea sized hail!

made it back to Benfleet with just a few traffic problems over the Dartford crossing. Then we had a thunderstorm roll through whilst eating dinner. A good Saturday considering me and my fiancée were winging it since midday.

Hi everyone, I was looking towards the south west end of Milton Keynes around 1pm today when I spotted what looked like a funnel cloud. Lots of cumulus clouds of various shapes and sizes in the sky at the time but this was coming from one of the smaller pieces. It was visible for a couple of minutes before dissipating. I can't say I saw any rotation while taking shots of but when it was dissipating it did look as if it had been spinning.

These are the best shots I got of it. What do you guys think?

@Pursuer of Storms, that's what I'd call just a bit of cloud sticking out of the bottom of the cloud.
