Yay!!! Go, Scotland! It's currently about 70F in the shade, the humidity is a killer and the midges are being vicious. Looks like the main risk is a wee bit to the north of me, but at least I have a chance now :yahoo:

Isn't it amazing Fiona - over here in France, there are Asiatic hornets, some of which are 6cm or so long, tiger mozzies, big black flying things that I yet to put a name to but which keep trying to get into our house - but nothing is as guaranteed to spoil your evening as the humble midge. I decided to sit out yesterday evening and phone my hubby from the garden and I had to run with chair and phone into the sun as I was being savaged. I'm full of elegant red dots today which do wonders for one's cleavage!!! They don't care whether the humidity is low or high, as long as it's above 8c they'll fly - perhaps I should write and ode to the midge...

If only the sun would appear, with the energy in the atmosphere I can only imagine the results! Crappy old day here with super gloomy skies, some heavy rain now. Puddles galore.

I reckon it's a no go for anything decent.

It's humid like a broad out there.

i thought we were in with a chance of something good when the sun appeared, was hoping the temp would go up as well as the storm risk but not to be, solid cloud cover again, temps and humidity dropping, already has a slightly fresher feel.

If anything this 'batch' is running further West and North than last night's!  A cell popping up toward Hull, and recent intense returns out toward Reading.

We really have hit the Jackpot here in Surrey I think for our Region..

My part of London got hit very badly last night. Best storm(s) in years IMBY a real classic, the one from last year July 3rd? just had a swarm of CC lightning equating to it being quite dull and mute. Unprecedented level of surface flooding too roughly 40mm deposited in a relatively short space of time, it was like watching a mini Niagara Falls seeing sheets of water falling from the rooftops. The CGs were extremely near and were a vivid blue proper powerful storms one which I remember for years to come. :)

I think this highlights well who hit the jackpot luckily I was in that path!

Thanks for posting!

I live by Waterloo station and that map perfectly shows why when I stood for ages trying to get a video of the lightning it was so hard as it was always directly overhead. That map shows it perfectly.

....................

Just had some thunder.
