Drizzle has cleared with cloud thinning, brightness and even hints of sun in south London, worth keeping any eye over northern Home Counties, appear to be some convective returns developing on recent radar scans over Herts. Thundery rain pushing NE out of France appears to have weakening lightning wise on northern extent.

A brightning echo near Cambridge not sure to what extent it'll go. Hot and humid when the sun is out thats for sure. I think some CAPE has built up. V4 CAPE overlay has 600J/KG showing for most of EA. Its too early to call bust yet.

Sun out intermittently, and yep, through the clouds, I can see something of a tower going up towards the direction of Cambridge! Could be the start of something

Do today's storms rely on heat/sun?

Had none whatsoever here, however, a few strikes have been detected in the channel a while ago.

Its currently steady rain.

Yay!!! Go, Scotland! It's currently about 70F in the shade, the humidity is a killer and the midges are being vicious. Looks like the main risk is a wee bit to the north of me, but at least I have a chance now :yahoo:

Even if nothing happens today, tomorrow looks much better for Scotland so we have some hope

I don't think they do, tomp456: It was either in late June 2010 (or '11) that Saarf London got whacked by a line of quite violent T-storms. Although the previous night's very-much-forecast pyrotechnics completely failed to materialise, the CF, of the following day, certainly did provide the goods: frequent C-Gs, cell after cell, and not a single minute of sunshine to be had!:D

Yup and last week it was quite miserable most of the day and London still got a good pasting - enough to close the A40 out of town and flood a few bits of S.W London

I still have faith!

I know and I've been out in the garden, wandering around in me wellies and I have no idea why :fool: Currently skies are getting heavy to the north of me with blue skies to the south. Dividing line seems to be right over the mate... Edit:- The M 8 motorway!!
