It certainly looks very moody out there. Low level very dark Cumulous and signs of Mammatus developing here from nothing!!

May have a look out for this, I'm close by and told mum there may be storms later, she also see it on the forecast but said the sky looks fine right now, would be interesting to show her a mammatus, I can't remember the last time I witnessed one

What direction are you looking?

Kent looks to have the first lot. My place of interest lies on what is exiting northwest Spain though. I'm assuming that's what will be the main event for the early hours. Looks pretty nasty!!

The trend is north easterly so from north east France and Belgium they would end up in Holland

Ah ok, looks like I misread the forecast wind direction! Thanks for the info!

It was to my west, possibly over the laindon area. It's since dissipated but signs of Undulatus appearing now, if it develops further I'll get a pic but it's very sporadic and short lived!

Skies here uninteresting, as they have been all day. More breaks in the cloud but nothing convective looking at the moment.

Seems like the channel is the breeding ground at the minute;)

@Stormyking,looks like Brighton east is where the first chunk will arive, but that cell west of Guernsey might have your name on it:D

Anyone from Hastings/St Leonards area, I shall be under Bottle Alley (nearest west end rather than near the pier) from 7.30pm (lightning due 8-8.30pm) - yellow shoes, grey shorts and grey cap.

Starting to darken outside now. Cumulonimbus around. Good sign i believe.

I've been worried that nothing would come of this. Like so many other things the storms have moved toward the uk but the flow has taken them more easterly as they approach. Today it seems they move more northerly as they get closer.

Plus is that isolated storm in the channel likely a supercell?!

Looks like it, heading Wiltershire/Hampshire way

Just a quick question, on lightningmaps where you click to show experimental strokes, are these additional strokes that aren't verified, or just alternative locations of the 'normal' strokes already displayed?

Them 'cells' around brighton amounted to nothing, but there are more potent ones now developing off the east coast of kent

This is pot kettle, but it's 7.15 and people are already being negative. The night is young. Have some patience.

Interesting, that line developing to the far South West, it's steering Northeast, but it is further West..

Guys and girls you are so lucky! I'll spend some time before bed watching your storms. I'm still baking here at 29c, but as I said earlier, I'm happy to provide some of your storm fuel, and happy to wait until hubby and I can watch ours together - and I like it hot! I can't believe how such a short time ago we were talking about how French storms did not like getting their feet wet in the channel and willing them on toward you! Enjoy mother nature's display and please stay safe...
