I fear you maybe wrong with the red box over Somerset, we have been in the warning zones countless times this year - and yes there have been storms around, but just not along the Bristol channel.

probably will be! haha but i'm hoping the Mendips and the Beacons could give anything that develops a little added oomph due to orographic lifting - same goes for the Pennines

This is highlights from another Thunderstorm we had in all it was about 3 hours long,It starts of with the Thunder rumbling in the back ground and the am radio picking up the lightning strikes as a reference tool.

Showers starting to develop here now, though everything seems to be flattening out, not a brilliant sign, let's hope it can all clear off for later. :)

Just had a brief moderate rain shower! The rain drops were huge! :D

Still overcast here and haven't seen the sun for ages. Can't see anything happening today round here. Does not "feel" stormy at all.

This is a video of the updraught into the 6pm storm that skirted west of us yesterday. Incredible amounts of moisture being sucked up

Looks like the Limousin storm shield has crumbled again today. Better have lunch before the power goes off!

Juicy crack of thunder here. Condensation rising motion to my NW looks very nice indeed.

Had some pretty intense downpours while in Bournemouth this morning, thought I had seen a bright flash of lightning driving along Wessex Way but it was just someone triggering a speed camera! Now back in Southampton and the sun is out, it's feeling quite warm and there are some nice cloudscapes about, hopefully today is the day.

It is, but i'm still not happy. The software is limiting me unfortunately. I need to scale the image down, as it draws to much bandwidth and slows me down. It's a 2K camera with a microphone as well. :/

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall. It doesn't rain very often here like other desert areas, but like the deadly floods in Libya last year showed, these rain events are likely becoming more extreme due to global warming.
