That mass approaching Bristol and N Somerset seems to be weakening drastically while everything around it strengthens. Frustrating to say the least!

Give it a chance - only early afternoon yet - front seems to be springing into life as it comes into the centre of Somerset - could be an interesting afternoon for you yet

That does seem to be where the activity is going. Don't want it too far south though - Bristol/N Somerset would be ideal.

Ok  The second downpour has passed, and  it was even bigger than the first one. I have recorded 28 mm of rain. No lightning.

There's been some extraordinary localised rainfall totals across England and Wales so far this month, some have had more rainfall in two minutes than I have had in 15 days.

Still sat in a pronounced gap of anything here in north Bristol, though looks like the spits and spots that went over at lunchtime have intensified south of Bristol. Trying my best to stay patient.

Centre of the low pretty much directly overhead here, evident on the radar too as everything circling this area. So fairly dry for now but this area perhaps coming into play later on today.
