Hello everyone, I managed to capture a bit of the storm in early hours of 26th August and my god was it a SHOCKER, I video recorded 21 mins of the storm from 1:45am to 2:10 am and I never seen so much lightning, it didn't even  feel like I was in the Uk as there was so much lightning.

Skip to 2:00 where the storm starts to really intensify

It was cool lol, the bit before the main hit you, was what the whole storm was like down here, lightning in the cloud with quiet rumbles. main storm went to thanet. Loads of lightning for what seemed like at least half hour, then it just died.

Got to be honest though for this little corner it was the third storm this year with that much lightning.

just arrived in Watford, clear blue skies all day with a few bits of fair weather cloud. Up to 27c put there which feels great with drier air and a gentle westerly breeze.

Nothing summer has actually happened this year, in the SE at least.

How far south of us is tonight's warm front now?

Sky is starting to look convective here in the mid levels already.

Planning to go to an airshow in Dunsfold(wings and wheels) either Saturday or Sunday, seeing such varied forecasts even at this late hour can't decide which day will be better weather wise:nea:

From this afternoon's charts and the Beeb forecast, I would be inclined to go for a Sunday trip. It's a mixed (uncertain) picture for Saturday and there could be some very heavy and thundery showers about. Whereas Sunday looks the safer option. Good luck with your decision!

Saturday charts at 17.00 from GFS, NMM and Arpege:

GFS Sat27Aug 17.00.GIFNMM Sat27Aug 17.00.pngArpege Sat27Aug 17.00.png

And the Beeb/Met Office view of Saturday 17.00: Beeb Sat27Aug 17.00.jpg

Sunday charts at 17.00 from GFS, NMM and Arpege:

GFS Sun28Aug 17.00.GIFNMM Sun28Aug 17.00.pngArpege Sun28Aug 17.00.png

And I thought this evening's BBC Look East graphic of the synoptics for Saturday was excellent, showing the returning Warm Front and our Region on the 'hot' side of the air masses! :)

Could really do with some fresher weather now.
My body temp wont go down the house temp wont go down.

Had enough of hot air masses, need fresher air masses, you know that lovely 22c clear sky type stuff.

Pressure back up to 1020 so unless pressure drops significantly with the front, it'll probably be capped here. Had my turn last night anyway.

Temperatures for tomorrow in London

Nnm: 30C

ARGEPE: 28C

GFS: shows 27 on meteociel so probably 29/30C

Latest EURO4 (the met office's short range model): 22C

EDIT: sorry latest ARGEPE just out, also 22C. 27C about 50 miles away (same on EURO4)

I feel the ARGEPE has done quite well. So perhaps it will be hot generally except in one or two unlucky (or lucky?!) spots.

The EURO4 has been dreadful during this spell - there would have been no heatwave at all if it had been right all week!

Morning Blessed,

you do wonder if this will ever happen again down here.

I think 1987 was the last time the main road Royal Atrillary Way was like that.

Now 1987 was something special, if that happened now lol...
WE just got on with things then, it would be carnage now lol...

Warm front is now advancing north I'm still not sure on thunderstorms this morning. I think a case of bad timing (if you wanted storms) and good timing for sun. So no complaints.

I think I'm right in saying the warm front is now just north of London where we have some showery rain breaking out as it bumps into the cooler fresher air further north.

So perhaps somewhere may get 30c today in the region? World class week of weather and sun
