Smiley Carol pinpointed Kent, Essex and Suffolk just now - bad luck chaps :D

I missed it. Did Carol say the "H" word? If so...look out for distant flashes across the Channel.

Is this vile drizzle going to hamper the chance of storms later on?

Of course it is.

Anybody know any good vantage points in Kent? Obviously depends on the radar but am thinking somewhere like  Capel-le-Ferne.

That where I would suggest, it's very high up, and you can see right over to france no problem, so if the storm for some reason do not get over, you'll still get a good show. Stay in a car or building though, as you'll be in the cloud if the storm does get here.

As normal I am sitting on the fence regarding any storms for me, have had 3 storms so far this season and i'm happy with that TBH. I find alot coming up from france, if they make it to me  they either disappear or are just a bit of rain. I have been very lucky so far with home grown stuff.

So although i'm checking things i'm not having the excitement of past events, because I fully expect to wake up over the next few mornings having nothing and seeing the pictures of others.

BUT It's too good not too have a peak now and again!

Right over Kent, think I've got to move, this will be the third one this year. The other two were not amber warned, so I'm defo expecting flooding in the usual places. Which luckly is not here. At the bottom of the road though.

17.4C, 100% humidity, feels like 23C. Sun sort of trying to come out.

Am on the boundary for action later. Think everything will be more inland and East Sussex/Kent way but you never know.

Well the Meto seem to think Kent could be those in the firing line with an amber warning

Good to see London & Home Counties only at a Yellow warning.

Hoping the worst of the rain & thundery activity skirts off towards the East - Belgium & Holland, as is so often the case and misses my location.. Don't want or need anymore rain around here.

I s'pose the plus side of living on a hill is we can't flood. Having said that it's not been unknown for all sorts of debris and even a car (due to the handbrake not being fully on) to go white water rafting down the road. The water can get quite a shifty on running down the hill.

Same here, I'm quite worried about the road in the valley, everything from here and opposite goes down there.

Some quite strong echoes on the radar over the Brest area.  Animation shows movement is more northward than I'd expect at this stage so perhaps steering flow will bring more of the SE into play later rather than just Kent.

I'm hopeful of something here in NE Essex as my 10-year-old daughter wants to camp out tonight to watch the storms as she's off tomorrow due to the referendum, however I'd prefer not to be washed away completely!

After the sun made a brief apperance earlier, we have now returned to thick overcast cloudy conditions.

Humidity is still 100% but there is a breeze now, taking the edge off the humidity.

I take it that the cloudy conditions will not hamper the chance of a storm later as the storms will be elevated?

I guess I am glad that I get up at 5am as the sun was out for a couple of hours, alas it has been grey and drizzly since then. It is warm and humid though out there and the cloud has tended to lift somewhat in the last hour or so.

Certainly brighter but my washing is stubbornly refusing to dry properly *sigh*

I should've taken more notice of the forecasts over the last few days, knew it was going to be warm today but didn't know about the humidity.

Walked back from college earlier today in a my fleece and felt like a wet sponge!

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
