Strong evidence of increasing instability, this beast looks exciting best of all might be a direct 'collision' can hear the distance thundering it's certainly an angry chap.

Heavy rain, loud storm for around 35mins now! First proper storm for an age! Radar suggests we might have a bit more of this moving up from the south.

Heavy downpour at Heathrow, stopped now and can't hear any thunder. Sky looks ominous to the N and E.

In Romford (larga larga going back to romford - Underworld ) we have had 2 hours of heavy rain and an hour of thunder, pretty large too, and the clouds continue to come with storms attached too, looks like this afternoon and eve will be the same ? :)

A completely different day up here, aside from quite a bit of high level cloud, it has been fine and sunny all day. Barely a breath of wind either so you can feel all of the warmth out there. Up to 25C already.

Good to see the white echoes on the radar fading as it passes through London.

Fingers crossed it stays dry here.

As Carol Kirkwood pointed out this morning on BBC Breakfast. Any showers will be very hit and miss.

I hope my location is a miss, why do I want a fair summers day spoilt by a heavy rain shower with a rumble of thunder that wets the ground, so you then cant sit out in the garden when you get home from work.

If it does rain buy then dries up why can't u sit in the garden???

Some great echoes on the rainfall radar, but it's funny how the lightening activity has dropped off in the last 45 minutes. Only two strikes showing on Blitzortung. Should pick up again if the MetO are right about it rumbling "well on into the evening". But talking of great echoes, take a look at that monster in Northern France. Not sure I'd like to be under that one! :shok:

A few splashes of heavy rain on off here.

Thankfully not making the ground soaked rather just damp. With that lovely summer rain smell.

Happy the showers are fading as they push through my location… Hopefully they will be pushed North & East by the time I finish work

Saw one CG flash and heard good rumbles of thunder off to my West - Folkestone up to Canterbury, stayed dry here until the last few minutes, now got steady heavy drops of rain, the sort that's lovely to stand out in when it's this humid! Would have loved to drive the M23 in the last hour. Or be in N France for that matter.

Well day started off really nice, plenty of heat and humidity ...... but since about 11 we have been under a blanket of grey gloom not even a spark in site!!!

Fingers crossed something fires up later tonight for a bit of a show.... Jealous of the West London Storms...I seem a bit to far east to pick up any of these storms :nonono:..........

Are we expecting things to kick off later as everything seems to have moved north of us and is dying off? Still very muggy outside

Showers now pushing north of here and bright skies looking to my south.. Hardly any rain either with 1 crack of thunder. Looks like my 'fingers crossed' worked

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
