Hi NUT. Where is it firing off? I cant see anything on radar and nothing happening around here apart from a few cumulus clouds building? Cheers :cc_confused:

There's a lightning strike in southern scotland I can see and some in NW England

Normally I'd agree, and your explanation does make sense, but I've seen several videos, pictures and read various reports of cases where other bolts do reach the ground, but for some unknown reason sometimes a much more powerful, brighter and more intense bolt occurs alongside the regular bolts. These are "superbolts" imo. Its certainly fascinating discussing it and finding out more about this rare occurance!

This doesn't explain the phenomenon but shows what you mean, I saw this storm myself, the first two strike were normal thunder and the third big strike was the shot gun type, infact it's still the loudest rumble I've ever heard and I was miles away, dread to think what it sounded like right under it. Although it's quite possible another one happened closer may be. Storm did everything, heavy rain, hail, snow, and damage.

Clouds building nicely once the sun broke through from 10am, humidity on the rise again and without doubt the extra moisture added from last night's storm will enhance potential.

I don't believe it (or maybe I do as it happens all the time), the nice big red return heading my way has just completely fizzled out :wallbash:

Very large cumulus congestus building in all directions around Milton Keynes. Think it's only a matter of time before it goes bang again. Two days in a row? Amazing.

The line of showers can be clearly seen on satellite pictures. It is only a stones throw to the west of me (Stoke/Leek) so if it fires up I may go out with camera in hand once more.

Currently editing yesterdays storm footage. You know you have seen a good one when there is no boring bits to edit out!

Seems to be a line of convection developing across Essex, drifting slowly SW'wards towards London. Development nothing as quick as yesterday and nothing electrical yet. Very warm and quite humid in London so should assist with developments.

No sooner as I type, the line of convection becomes electrified across the Midlands...hopefully this will extend right along the line.

Edit - strike across EA, so this seems to be happening!

Surprised the cell over Glossop isn't electrified yet, these local TCu all kicking-off just as daytime heating is reaching it's highest.
