I think the upper cold front is going to turn into a squall, cells building on it in multiple places now.

Do you mean you would want to stay up and watch the storm (hence lose sleep) or that thunder keeps you awake? I find night time storms incredibly relaxing and they help me sleep. Nothing like hearing the rain on the roof and window and occasional rumble as I'm drifting off.

Depends. If I'm already fast asleep there's a chance I'll sleep through it.

I think what really keeps me awake is the anticipation...my love for weather! So it would be the first answer.

I'm the same when snow is due...don't want to sleep because I don't want to miss it!

Currently between the Maidstone storm to my north and Hailsham/Eastbourne one to my southwest. Can Hear very distant rumbles occasionally.
Very oppressive right now!

It's crazy I can't see any definition or change in the clouds at all.

I wonder if I blow hard enough up into the sky it might enhance some lifting overhead, we got the temps, we got the humidity, we got the lift and CAPE. Yet as of now central England and the Pennines has squat.

Not sure it's that clear in the picture but I can see at least 2 distant cells.

Appears to be linking together.  That cell to the NE of Mcr was frustratingly out of my reach, I thought it was drifting back east but it seems to be now finding a friend with the building cell just to the west of Manchester.  They might merge together soon and affect more areas.

Storms over Oxfordshire way heading south or southeast, MK central cluster rotating around themselves and the earlier storm moving northeast still. Has a low pressure center developed along the weather front right in the middle of the country? Currently there isn't  breath of wind hear in MK, just deep distant rumbling thunder.

I wondered that earlier as I thought the MK storm looked like it was rotating around itself, but I dont know enough to be able to tell if that could happen

It's separate cells developed from an altocumulus castellanus layer. The clouds have definitely thickened in the last hour.

Still out looking at a new storm that's developed up in about 20 minutes to an active cell. Back building so looks like activity is moving away but slowly drifting my way out west of Shrewsbury.

East round to South.

Seems to be getting darker right across that area quite rapidly.
