Hearing increasingly loud thunder in MK, but nothing showing that close on mapping. Very odd.

Well that has to be up there with the best lightning storms I have witnessed. Currently sat near Kettering having a rest. Raining steadily with occasional flashes and thunder. Will now head back to the M1 and follow the storms back closer to home.

This is what storms should be like!

What do you think our chances are back home supacell. The skies here are starting to look slightly more threatening, but mostly high cloud to be fair.

Appologies if this is a stupid question but can storms still form behind the trough?

Not really unless there is geographicall lift. Cap is also reducing out west it sticks around West London and North London till around 9-10mm (decreasing all the time)

Hence the reason for the new cells erupting out west of London, the trough is sparking them

Well, they're sparking to my west rapidly now. The Oxford cell is now moving south towards Didcot and is heading for me.It also looks like it might merge over Wantage with a cell moving East from Hungerford

Things are edging closer to here I see. Could do with everything through and done by 9pm though as I'm in early to work tomorrow. Would like to fully enjoy some lively weather before I hit the sack this evening!

Do you mean you would want to stay up and watch the storm (hence lose sleep) or that thunder keeps you awake? I find night time storms incredibly relaxing and they help me sleep. Nothing like hearing the rain on the roof and window and occasional rumble as I'm drifting off.

Storms over Oxfordshire way heading south or southeast, MK central cluster rotating around themselves and the earlier storm moving northeast still. Has a low pressure center developed along the weather front right in the middle of the country? Currently there isn't  breath of wind hear in MK, just deep distant rumbling thunder.
