This more than makes up for my drought and there's more heading this way ! Oddly though I've hardly seen any lightning but the thunder is almost constant at the moment !

I'm in the same boat at the mo. Heard a few loud rumbles and got some light rain although things are still very calm at the moment but at the time of typing I have still seen no lightning yet. The storm is still approaching though (its very slow moving) and looks pretty active so there's still plenty of time. Hope you see some strikes soon.

Extremely large raindrops oddly making popping noises like bubble wrap when it reaches the ground?

My Mum just texted me. Apparently we have a bad storm in n.e bexley right now. Thunder and lightning literally above my house. My friend has also had thunder and lightning in sevenoaks. I'm in london at the moment. Typical! Hope it tracks this way.

What are the chances we might get a second storm this evening when I'm home to enjoy it?

Snap - bloody typical!!!

Plenty of flashes to my South-East with lots of rolling thunder :D A few beautiful CG strikes as well.

Your South East ? Seems to be all to the West of WW from here.

Wow I'm in Norbury at work. Frequent lightning and nearly constant rumbles of thunder

Thunder getting slightly more frequent now and just saw a nice IC strike in the blackness to the south.

Certainly looks interesting down in the SE! Probably not worth jumping in the car for mind.

Just heard first really elevated crackle of thunder, though shortly before witnessed an awesome multiple stroke CG, although still out over S London...very slow progress.

Edit - much closer flash then, but thunder really quite feeble lol.

For areas likely to see thunderstorms look for T= 25C+ and Td 12+ preferabble 15C or so. Also look for areas of surface convergence, different wind directions I mean at ground level, help with initial lift, areas of high ground.

For Doncaster as an example T=25C and Td=11C 'could' give tops to the TROP

Prob of this happening today I would assess as 30% or so, higher if you are closer to the Peak District and Pennines with these T and Td values.

Move to Guildford, Surrey - you can guarantee it will stay thunder-less in any situation or set up in this location. Wish I WAS in London at present.
