you should try anyways

Sorry, but do you not understand about how long it would take to get there, also considering fuel costs and also choice? :)

It will be for now, we'll see if it's strong enough later I expect. I think at first you will see it weakening, then as the evening goes on start making some inroads if we are lucky. That's dependant on a few things though. Like if the mlcape is strong enough, who knows.

MLCAPE is not looking too shabby

Looks like something has formed west of Oxford, could be false return, but if real it could be a good sign that the cap is now breaking further inland.

Tomorrow late afternoon/evening looks good for the Midlands and maybe even here as the night draws in. However, I will likely be somewhere else.

Makes sense, last time I looked at the satellite there was a cloud field towards the NW of London

Rain drops keep falling on my head despite there being next to no cloud cover directly above me. Meanwhile the fishies are getting quite fed up of this.

Im hoping ill be back from work in plenty of time to shoot off out, that NW precip chart for tomorrow suggests I may not have to go far. Barring the odd distant flash Ive managed to avoid seeing nighttime lightning for maybe a decade!

Ahh, good prediction of mine, the activity has waned, I'm slightly concerned about tomorrow's turn out, the showers over this part of the UK have been rather isolated again.

Does anyone have an insight as to if that storm in Belgium will make it across the channel this evening?

I was about to ask what the chances were of us Southeasterners catching an import this evening and overnight. I've heard rumours, but not sure what the actual chances are like.

Wish I had taken a pic of a cloud to the east of me. Classic cumulonimbus developed nicely but unfortunately nothing overhead for today

I would love to see some pileus clouds if anyone manages to capture one. I've not seen one in years!!

I think radar watching is the only option for the south and southeast. All good so far - even subtle signs of high level instability here, so I'm quite liking our chances :-)

Not too sure if this counts it is even the type of cloud your after, took it because it was unusual the updraft seemed to climb then the blanket formed on top and it then began to flatten out.

This was on the Preston cell.

It's that time of year again when I wander back into this thread.

Howdy all!

Hoping for a good year this year. Last year had a couple of good nights, which is more than be said for previous.

That's a great shot.

Great to see people enjoying some storms.

Tomorrow looks good, all the models are agreeing on a few spots, including the south east for some thunderstorms. Euro4 is in agreement too, and that model has been very conservative over the last few days...certainly a good sign.

You might just have one there. Not the best angle but for sure shows convection and upward motion!
