Think we need to wait until at least next week to see something proper. Something like 19th June 2005, 28th June 2012 or 3rd July last year will get me out chasing.

Frame 276 on 06z GFS is something proper alright lol. That would get the adrenaline pumping.  Ignoring the stout ridge aloft toward the south, would mean severe thunderstorm/supercell outbreak for northern and western parts. Dicey stuff.

Seems to be gradually going darker here. Wouldnt surprise me if it kicks off in next couple of hours.

looks like it would be very similar to 19/06/2005. The exact areas you mentioned saw supercells that day. Lightning count would've been off the scale on that day I'm sure too, maybe rivalling 2012's 64,000. Read somewhere the other day that cloud tops got down to -60 and tops overshot to 45,000 ft!! Remember North Yorkshire being on the news about the severity of the flash flooding. Someone also saying that they saw the cloud tops over Macclesfield and Cheshire from Hampshire!

Considering the metoffice put back the time for storm development on there warning there ain't a lot happening so far . I'm not expecting anything in my neck of the woods but for everyone else disappointment could well be on the cards unless things buck up a bit.

:(, YOU CAN MAKE IT IF YOU BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND SPEED

No point now, not sure what to think about these thunderstorm chases, I'm wasting fuel and obviously money for nothing!

Looking like it's all gonna kick off later down south, hopefully evening times like yesterday. Feel for everyone sat at the side of the road waiting. Did that yesterday - knowing you have an hour or more journey home having seen nothing is gutting but you've gotta be in it to win it!

Why I always take my laptop with me now so I can do a bit of programming while I wait endlessly for stuff to happen, otherwise there's a lot of lost hours on the road

Towers shooting up to my North now.. shame it's hazy, they would make a nice picture.

@William Grimsley - I'd sit tight next time, you seem to be chasing them away. :p

Look at Northern France, Western Germany, Belgium...storms cracking off like there's no tomorrow...

Now look at the UK...the odd little cloud fart every so often in SW Wales..

Oh dear..

Towers are impressive here just about to go off I would imagine.

What's the word on any potential for the NW, the majority of the cells currently sparking-away are over the western side of Wales at the moment. Anything forecast moving up through the Midlands into the evening?

Storm chasing can be disheartening. I could potentially have wasted over 24 hours and about £80 in petrol/food etc if nothing happens. It's part and parcel of the hobby. I have thought about jacking it in a number of times, I kind of feel that way right now. However, there are the good times too, the days where you get the goods.

It is still early days today though....still time.
