Not very often you see The SW of Britain in the deepest red and one of the hottest regions in Europe. Enjoy you guys, you deserve it, still relatively cool over here ( Austrian Alps ).

Major similarities! Even the moon phase is the same as last year. Day 2 of the Full moon(fullest moon) was 1st July 2015 (hottest day) and 19th July 2016 (predicted hottest day) has the same full moon phase 2(fullest moon). Ive heard rumors that people change when theres a full moon but could the weather also:cc_confused: could be a remarkable coincidence of course:D

It's true.  Domestic violence and road accidents peak roughly four days after new and full moon.  There obviously is a connection between moon phase and tidal effects on the human body. After all we are basically leaky bags of water.  Does anyone have any other explanation as to why the feminine reproduction cycle is 28 days, one lunar month?

The 6pm readings will be interesting. It's just as hot now as it was between 3 and 4pm!! Still 31C.

Linton on Ouse, 15 miles north of York, reached 30.4C at 6pm - its highest temperature of the day. That's certainly pretty late.

At 2pm  according to my garden sensor it was 30C, while Liverpool ATIS was reporting 28C with a DP of 16C, so obviously not humid.  Temp in my garden peaked at 36C, now currently 31C.  Liverpool ATIS reporting 30C with DP 19C @ 17:00Z (ie 6pm BST).  A cloudless day up to now but now patchy Sc.

Maximum 32.6 here in Reading (the official site at the university recorded 31.9). If the MetO forecasts are to believed we could be looking at some local records being broken by tonight's minima.

Where is this reported?? Also, is this an official met office station and therefore declared as today's max??

Crosby was still above 30C at 9pm

Mental.

Today was notably hot (obviously) but tonight is already something else. I haven't experienced this since Cairns in 2012 (that's tropical Australia). I've missed that distinctive smell in the air that you get on sticky nights with thunder threatening.

Still nothing like the all-night sauna of Shanghai in 2009. One night didn't get below 31C when I was there.
