If the rest of the summer was average, that'd be nice. The prospect of an unsettled August does not excite me at all, and I think we've had enough of those recently. I sincerely hope August will pull a hat trick and turn out to be the best month of summer (like it was in 2009 and 2012), but I guess we'll see.

I think given most of the summer has been below average, it would be quite nice to have it slightly above average from now on, more so with regards to amount of sunshine; but yes I'm with you on hopes for August, especially the first two thirds.

Doesn't look like the Met's 34-35C will come to fruition unless temps start increasing again. Doesn't appear to be any momentum right now. Not sure why the temperatures have seemingly leveled off when there's only a light SE wind and full sunshine.

Might be maxed out now in the west. Warmest upper air just approaching central/eastern parts, could we see temp rises further east until 5pm I wonder?

Come on.. come on..  29.9°C  here - I haven't recorded a 30°C  in ten years of owning a station!

Some rail lines approaching 60c, easy to see why there's disruption on the trains.

It's a shame the warmest of the uppers are only arriving through the day, I think if they'd been in place beforehand we could have squeaked a tad higher. I think 35c might be out of reach today, but somewhere could get close to 34c

Yes, BBC seems to think so - max around 5pm. Guess we'll see. Temps here are back on the up.

Hottest day for 10 years but it won`t be reaching 30c here.

Mid level cloud coming in now, quite a nice breeze today which knocks the temp off.

Lots of stations round here seem to be reporting 32-33c. :) Some a little higher than that too! :)

Booked for the next 3 days with jobs in the south east, wonder if I can take my employer to court for cruelty! Saw 34c today, the words vile, replusive, unbearable spring to mind....may be a give away I didn't like it one bit.

We maxed out a tad over 31c here, which was about what was expected....wonder who will take the top prize! Maybe a few later reporting stations may nick it off Brize Norton?
