I looks like to will move west of here, but Wales still get some fun... in fact I think Flintshire is getting pasted as we speak.

Knutsford and parts of Cheshire appear to be experiencing some downpours at present, according to radar.  M56 J2 says closed on entry slip road due to flooding, but I can't see the band of showers yet reaching that far north, although they are blossoming a bit.  Just cloud here with a few spots in the air.

With all of the scenes of heavy rain and flooding, my part of the region looks to have been very lucky again.

not a completely dry day but certainly not a wash out and even a bit of brightness later this afternoon.

Synoptics on paper today should have delivered cloudy skies with the threat of downpours, alas we managed a bright dry day with plenty of sunny spells and temps nudging close to 20 degrees..

The saying don't judge a book by its cover very apt for today - low pressure directly overhead does not necessarily signify a dull unsettled day.

Another mainly dry day, a couple of light showers late afternoon but it's sunny at the moment so it looks like we may have come off better than forecast again.

Currently 17c.

There's a few showers coming in from the North East but they are dying on their feet over this side of the Pennines.  Just wetting the ground.  The radar had them much more potent on the eastern side of the Peak District and Pens.  We had a few torrential downpours last week in Oldham/Rochdale/Middleton so it's law of averages they have given us a miss these last two days.

Heavy rain has certainly arrived now, chucking it down.

It stayed almost dry all day yesterday, apart from a brief sprinkle around 1630. I managed to cut the grass, which has been growing very enthusiastically with all the rain, then we had a sustained shower at about 2300, but nothing too heavy. Perhaps today can produce something to match Saturday's deluge? Last chance until next week.

A storm has brewed just downwind of me here, we can see it as a black wall of cloud, with occasional lightning, but it hasn't passed overhead, just formed where it is and is slowly intensifying. Torrential rain over Altrincham, judging by the radar, but not a drop here.

Rain here thunder and lightening and just about to head out to southport to get my son some fresh air! He has his operation tomorrow to have plates out of his legs at alderhey, really nervous...meanwhile we've just spotted a leak in bathroom ceiling. Other half been in attic and there's no pipes, so looks like it's coming through the roof from the torrential rain we had a few days ago! Flipping brilliant!!! We don't have time to report and repair it yet as we are in Liverpool tomorrow for our sons op

Best thing to do there, is wait until the sun comes out overhead and you'll see the shafts of light coming through were maybe a slate has fallen off.  Had the same prob a few years back and all missing slates were replaced.  Shouldn't cost too much.  Hopefully that's all it is!  All the best for your sons operation.

Meanwhile the showers have ganged up further west today, Merseyside area currently showing atmospherics on the radar.  Bone dry here and frequent sunny spells.

Hammering down now. Occasional thunder but it's hard to hear over the noise on the roof.

Still going after 20 minutes, I keep thinking it's easing off, then it picks up again. Had a couple of close strikes, one that showed the http://www.lightningmaps.org/ error, it was off by a couple of miles.

Threatening clouds to my southwest but dry and bright here, as it's been for much of the day.

It's a strange looking radar though with the heavy showers seeming to form along the western up slopes of the Pennines as if they are actually pouring out of them.

Thankyou! Will have to wait until he's recovered, be in bed for a month at least! However we had a thunderstorm and downpour before we left, then it was sunny when we got to southport and then torrential rain, thunderstorm  for 40 minutes! Sat in the car in McDonald's , even inside McDonald's was flooded too!

then we came home and got in and the heavens opened!! Massive thunderstorm, torrential rain again and just stopped now! 45 minutes!! Hope the bathroom ceiling holds up as we now have to bath our little lad and put him on his hoisting table right underneath the leak, although we haven't seen it dripping, just wet plaster and a crack running along towards his hoist! But we've no choice he has to be bathed for surgery tomorrow.

Suggest the regional threads are retitled summer 2016 onwards, now we are firmly in summer. Word on conditions today, oh dear its the dreaded westerly/southwesterly airstream, we've been spared from days like today for a number of weeks now, thanks to a predominance of northerly/easterly and anticyclonic conditions. Ala, we have the grey wet cloak enveloping everything, obscuring all visibility, and coating the ground in copious amounts of rain. Max temp a poor 16 degrees. Classic summer Lake District rain, the worst kind, the kind of day that spoils a summer holiday. Such days become more common as the summer wears on especially in August, it feels like one of those wet sundays when you were a child and everything feels very very dull.

Lovely in Manchester today, certainly better than the SE for referendum day. Mostly sunny, warm enough, light winds.  Wasn't bad here yesterday either. Looking a lot cooler next week, maybe.

Not a bad weeks weather here but the torrential showers of this afternoon have more then made up for it.
