Grim, autumnal, windy, cloudy, drizzly, cool... Same old summer 2016!

Absolutely smashing it down. 'orrible.

I can't remember which day it was perhaps around 4 weeks ago, but today is a carbon copy with a train of downpours on a convergence zone moving right through the Salisbury area while the South Coast is glorious as are areas to the North, like here, where it's been lovely with warm sunny periods since mid morning.

A bit like here. 8.8mm this afternoon yet a few miles away haven't had any rain at all today.

With the exception of one torrential and short lived shower around 14.00, we've had nothing here.  Mostly it's gone to the north of us but there is a small cell just grazing past us to the south as I type.  Doesn't look to be any more in the offing.

Cleared up this afternoon and had 4 hours of sun (pathetic, I know). I could see the cbs to the southeast from north Bristol.

Just talked to my dad who lives in Shaftesbury about 4 miles SE of me and he measured 41.8 mm of rain today! All in the space of about 3 hours between 2pm - 5pm. He obviously got stuck under the main convergence line that moved through this afternoon.

Goodness, Tobertron, that's a hell of a lot!  I've not checked my gauge yet but will be surprised if it's more than a couple of mm.

Wow, no comments in here at all yesterday. Just shows how boring the weather is at the moment.

A few light showers in Bristol this morning but is clearing up now with some sunny breaks. Hopefully the vast improvement shown by the models will come into fruition. Not too bothered about heat and humidity during the week, I just need a dry and warm day on Saturday!

A tropical style downpour shortly before 13.00 dropped the temperature to below 13c! That's quite an achievement in mid July!

6mm of rain in less than 10 minutes which took the July total to just 8.5mm so another dry spell ongoing.

Another good week so far! Not wall to wall sunshine by any means, but nothing to complain about - very pleasant! Just 4.8mm of rain this month.

A gorgeous day today, variable amounts of cloud.

Temp: 20°C - Hum: 53% - Dew: 10.4°C - Bar: 1025.57hPa - Wind:  NNW / NE @ 3mph.

Looking forward to some heat proper into the new week. Been meh so far this summer. Good potential for storms midweek also. Obviously after that it will be rain and cold as the kids break up for summer :-(

Is anybody else fed up of inaccurate forecasts so close to the day?

Last Thursday evening had Friday as widespread heavy showers all morning then a fine pm, the day itself was bone dry and almost completely sunny over the whole region.

Yesterday evening had a dry day today for all areas South of Bristol yet there is rain right down to the South coast! Right now it has turned vile here.

Managed to get to 22.4°C yesterday. A lot of cloud around today, attempts at sunshine did occur this afternoon, but it couldn't quite manage it. Top temp today was 19°C

Temp: 16.9°C - Hum: 85% - 14.4°C - Bar: 1026.75hPa - Wind:  WSW @ 3mph.

I'm looking forward to some extra heat, I suspect a few of my weather records on my new station will go; Temp, highest minimum temp, dew point etc..
The ensembles look mighty impressive, but also the drop off too.

Agreed with some posts in Model thread.

All areas are not getting wall to wall sunshine for the next 5 days

Here today, in North Devon, it's been grey overcast, and not showing signs of brightening up yet

Grey & Muggy here

Blimey, it's a cracking day a bit further South. A bit more now in the way of cloud, but it's lovely and warm. BBQ will be fired up within the hour, no fear.
