Thick fog and sky obscured. Temp 11C and a zephyr from the NNE. Could be quite wet in the east of the region this morning.

Well yesterday wasn't overly bad with showery light rain/sharp showers and some muggy hazy sunshine in the afternoon, however this morning is utterly vile with low Stratocumulus and moderate rain which seems set to worsen soon, 14.4c and calm.

Recorded 56.8mm!

That's a bit of an overread, might want to check that.

Absolutely pouring down this morning - a very treacherous drive up the M5 to work. No longer feeling warm either at 14C.

That's the wettest I've got on my morning walking this year. Absolutely soaked to the skin. At least it's warm

Just off to post Turin Brakes - (Summer Rain) in the last song you listened to, in the lounge.

Heavy rain throughout most of the night and then an hour of very heavy/torrential rain here this morning has left surface water just about everywhere. Looking at the Radar, it looks like there's more to come. Had about 30mm so far today, wouldn't be surprised if we broke 50mm if these storms hit us.

Major convection kicking off between Bath, Swindon and Oxford !

So Cotswolds, Forest of Dean and anywhere between Bristol and Brum looks set to get hit I would have thought.

And living in Gloucester I have to be confident of a few crash, bang, wallops and probably some torrential down pours for good measure ! :-D .

But... latest storm radars show no lightning strikes anywhere but there is still time I guess. Could do with the sun making a show first

Cheers !

John

It might pick up just east of Salisbury soon. It's very dark just to the North East, but the Sun's out here which may well help things along. Even the gulls are picking up the thermals.

Been lashing down here the last hour no thunder roads are  flooded in places

Certainly looking very brooding in your direction from my office. Brightest skies of the day arriving from the east with actual definition in the clouds!

Charts would suggest that any lingering showers this evening and those clipping the South overnight will be the last rain for quite some time. IMBY 'only' 11mm today whereas some places have had considerably more. Also only 38mm since 11th April so although cool until last weekend it has been relatively dry.

A whopping 33mm today, making it the wettest day of the year so far. Hopefully there'll be more thundery activity around tomorrow.

Back to light rain in Bristol following a few dry hours although the sky looks fairly hazy. Hopefully will start to see the sun again from tomorrow as it's been a rather gloomy, if warm and humid start to the week.

47mm of rain here since 0400z today......that's an awful lot of rain!

noticed quite a few people in the convective thread are ramping up tonight with french imports.....I don't know why, because it's not going to happen....moderate rain, yes, big thunderstorms, no

More than your total for April? Mine nearly is.
