Quite enjoyed today's weather after the cold front departed. Lovely September sunshine and feeling fresh.

That could well be the last summerish plume of the year...but never ready to say a complete goodbye to thunderstorms. The one advantage of our recent mild winters have been the fun-size thunderstorms that crop up in them. Admittedly they are rare and not numerous but have helped caused brief flashes of excitement during otherwise an unexciting season.

Well indeed..we have plenty of recent examples that show warmth can be possible right up to Halloween..so hopefully we might get a bit more!

I doubt the rain will get that far west, in fact I doubt it will even reach here and I'm further east than you. Looking at the latest radar it appears to be moving south from Nottinghamshire into Leicestershire with very little further westward movement.

still not all that nice though, with a definite east/west split over me, unsettled to the east, settled to the west, been mostly dull today

Interesting cloud 'waves'over Bromsgrove in the last hour. Set up my camera and shot a quick timelapse. It's a new camera so still learning how to use it but think I have the timelapse sorted....just need to remember to switch of autofocus next time....(lost focus about 3 times duringcapture :(

Anyway here's the video:

Sigh, expecting another east/west split tomorrow, settled skies to the west, unsettled skies to the east, rain here too no doubt

Light to moderate rain for the past hour has turned heavy just now and shrouded in low cloud here.

A short spell of very heavy rain here too about two hours ago. Coincidentally the terrestrial t.v signal was lost for 5 minutes at the same time. I thought there may have been a lightning strike which temporarily knocked out one of the transmitters but nothing showed up on the radar.

There was a spell of torrential rain here around teatime, I checked the lightning detectors at the time as I thought there might be some around, but nothing was showing.

Just watched some old weather forecasts from September 30th 2011. That was an amazing weekend into the start of October.

Looks like there's a chance of warmth heading into this October...although 2011 has scuppered any chances of getting anywhere near the record for quite some time to come I reckon! That year really was exceptional.
