So now winter 2015/16 sinks below Spring 2016 in the best winters list.

Plenty of showers around now and we just had soft hail here.

Some great cloudscapes too with plenty of cold air aloft.

I took this one around lunchtime as I was leaving the golf club

Typical anvil shape of Cumilo nimbus in the distance.

Quite pleasant in the sun but cold when it disappears behind the clouds.

Have had sleety showers here on and off with sunshine in between all afternoon. The latest just ending now, which contained a few big snowflakes. No accumulation though however and would have to be pure snow for that and even then would have to be very intense. Glad to see WillinGlossop has had a slight covering but his elevation is around double mine. Quite a mixed Spring we're having though it is unusual to get wintry precipitation this late in April which we also had a week ago last Saturday as well. Meteorological Summer is only 5 weeks away tomorrow as well.

Heavy sleet then snow shower from 5 to around 5.25.  Left a slight covering, but not all of the grass or greenery covered. Not accumulating at all on the roads.

Great whacking hail storm, and now it's snowing , heavily!! what the hell is going on with this bloody weather.  Do we always have to have snow either side of the season of winter nowadays??!!

well yes, cos winter is dominated by low pressure and Atlantic air nowadays, April isn't, so snow more likely

Impressive shower clouds today to look at,otherwise quite a few soft hail showers but not amounting to just a sprinkling.

Could see a nice developing cb cloud south which left the hills to the south white.

Interesting day today! Snow in the early afternoon (very wet and didn't settle, but snow for sure), then a nice bright if cold afternoon, and just now a heavy hail shower. So yes, this one day has been more interesting for wintry precipitation than the entire formal winter. :p

Several intense cracks of thunder this evening in Stoke with the heaviest and largest graupel I've ever seen. What an incredible sight it was...some still hadn't melted tonight! The sky was menacing. The reports of tornado are not far from me. Winds didn't seem that severe but they did pick up very quickly.

What a fantastic day of weather. Best northerly event for years! Daytime was mostly fine with warm sunshine (out of the cool wind of course) then multiple heavy soft hail/snow showers giving numerous temporary dustings and then 2 thunderstorms to top things off!! Some bright flashes and some pretty close with good deep rumbles of thunder! The 7pm storm brought fantastic soft hail - it was pea sized and even slightly larger at times - largest hail I have ever seen! Excellent day! :D
