Remember the two events very well, classic battleground scenarios with the cold continental air winning out. The synoptics of March 2006 were very refreshing, look at how the continental block to the NE built and sucked up the atlantic swallowing it whole and surging forward into the atlantic - great for those who like to see the atlantic lose the battle. The following days were very raw, I was on the NE and we had many snow showers. I like the phrase 'Pennine Blue'..

Mid March can be a very wintry period, 2001 brought similiarly cold weather. Mid March 2013 also, indeed 11 March 2013 brought an ice day here.

Dubai Floods: Another Warning Sign for Desert Regions?

The flooding in the Middle East desert city of Dubai earlier in the week followed record-breaking rainfall.
