I'm putting this out there for discussion and opinion.

I'm at the flight booking stage for my chase this year and can't find any direct flights to DFW for anything less than £750, much more than usual. Is anyone else having the same problems and if you've found anything cheaper can you forward the details?

Thanks in advance.

Where are you flying from?

I have found out that its cheaper for some reason to Fly to DFW with BA from manchester via LHR that flying from LHR to DFW! its totally random!

Skyscanner does bring up some options but all depends on stop overs and how long and how many connections are.

are you chasing with NW Tours~?  when are you flying out?

Fly from LHR as live on the south coast. Stopovers cheaper but tend to avoid them. Manchester an option but have to factor in extra cost of travel there. Not on NW tour but usually meet up at some point! My trip will be around the 23rd May to 3rd June. Thanks for reply.

Prices do change daily so if I catch a deal for the £600 mark I'll probably snap it. Am taking my daughter this year.

They've been increasing steadily since January, haven't seen a single significant drop since the new year, although I booked mine long ago thankfully.

Booked flights for my personal chase a week ago and saw the same weirdness with prices. Cheapest flights for me were Manchester to Wichita, via LHR and DFW! worked out at £640, despite the individual flight from LHR to DFW coming out at more then that!

Interesting

I can go Birmingham to Dublin to Heathrow to DFW for £613 (2 stops, 22hrs)

Or I can go Heathrow to DFW for £780 (direct 10hrs)

Where is the logic in that?!
The question is, is a simpler quicker route worth the £170 saved.

It's all about the tax I think, tickets originating in Dublin don't have the UK passenger tax applied to them, but anyone thinking of doing this beware, you have to do the Dublin leg or they'll not honour the ticket.

I usually don't mind indirect flights but that sounds horrid! 22 hours I'd be dead.

Come and live in Oz Nick!  22 hr flights are the normal for some destinations!  SYD to DFW is 16hrs+ non-stop :)

That's the number one reason putting me off going to Australia, although I'd love to go!

I got £580 LHR-DFW in Nov, but then had to pay £120 to change the dates to accommodate more chase time!

My mate got £360 for LHR-ATL-DFW just before Christmas, absolute bargain.

Yep that's a corker!

I got a scanner alert an hour ago - LHR to Copenhagen to Washington to Dallas £607

Very tempted - the return via Chicago is a 7hr layover and I've always wanted to do the Sears Tower!

Have you tried searching for Dublin to DFW alone? There should be some flights that don't involve a silly trip via Heathrow. You just have to get to Dublin somehow! Separate searches for some reason gives better results.
