Rain, sleet, snow and hail showers this afternoon. Some great looking anvils around too!

May be worth following the livestreams in America tonight; some pretty lively weather expected.

Afternoon All,

Big lightning flash and thunder clap over Westminster about 20 mins ago, white stuff briefly falling too, but I am not sure what it was, the sun is out now.

Heavy blustery showers, hail, thunder and some wonderful cloudscapes. What a great day for interesting weather! :)

Well certainly a lot better today, some good sunny spells but a few hefty soft hail showers as well.

We just had some snow/sleet pass through here in Dover. Pretty surprised really, I've never seen it this late before.

A bit blowy, not really really cold, had some sleety/soft hail showers nothing really heavy, watched quite a few circle round me and no thunder.

But hey ho nice clouds about.

The weather is awesome. Some serious convection going on up there. In the space of 1 hour I've had hot sun, torrential hail, hot sun, torrential rain, hot sun and hail again!

Afternoon all.

Downpour with sleet and soft hail in Esher moving south west. Couldn't confirm snow and only brief in the middle of the squall.

Proper April day today with some hefty showers, some with hail, sleet, snow and thunder. At least plenty of sunshine between the showers, hallelujah!

Just had a shower of rain which turned to sleet then snow and back to rain again. Flash of lightning in the distance to add to boot .

Caught in a mix of moderate to blizzard-like wet snow and graupel walking home from Richmond to Twickenham, turned into mostly sideways wet snow in the heavier bursts, heard some thunder too, lovely surprise!

Heavy snow shower in Staines, settled on grass! Crazy, imagine this in January.

I am sure there are people that are reporting "snow" when really it is really soft hail which in itself is not unusual for the time of year.Temps this far South are too high for proper snow.

I know what you mean but I today for sure saw snow in 2 locations . Went to Guildford and it snowed around 4ish but will admit was very wet on impact. I also witnessed a shower in chessington which either side of rain had a spell of fluffy snow in between . Had soft hail showers earlier in the day more the polystyrene type

I wonder what's falling from the showers in east Anglia at the moment and it feels the temperature has dropped quite a bit?
