North Korea

Recommended Posts

i'm surprised this topic hasn't been commented on. whilst events in Syria are dominating the headlines, the North Koreans are threatening nuclear attacks on the U.S. and defying the UN by preparing for further nuclear tests. the 'satellite' they launched is on a trajectory which is required for an EMP attack on the U.S. (this actually requires less advancement in technology than the ability to deliver a nuke on the ground). however, official intelligence reports say that they are more advanced in their nuclear programme than is generally believed.

Russia and the North Koreans' main ally China, have both in recent days, tried to warn them off but still they defy the UN.

they are a seemingly underestimated threat to world stability. if... WW3 was to happen, this could well be the trigger....

Indeed, bobbydog - and the world needs to do something about it - but, the question is: what do we do about it!

well to be fair, every movement is being monitored by the likes of the CIA. the joint US/S Korean  exercises going on at present are aimed at taking out key weapon systems and 'decapitation' of leadership in the event of full-on N Korean aggression. i think there is plenty of preparation in place  but they have the fourth largest military force in the world. if they decide to 'go for it', they may not stand the best chance in terms of technology but in sheer numbers, it wont be an easy fight.

China has too much to lose by backing N Korea if they continue down the road to armed conflict.

My guess is China would coldly hang them out to dry if it came to it. Importantly, it wouldn't be a media saturated conflict either. NK wouldn't allow any journos near them and the US would be able to dictate the output through the usual networks.

Frankly, the world would be a better place without NK.

so... the US and China "warn" fatboy Kim to give up his nuclear weapons. or... what? what will they actually do? NK is under crippling sanctions yet they are not showing any signs of budging. quite the opposite- they have threatened to nuke washington and destroy south korea, launched missiles during the summit talks trying to prevent them doing just that. Kim has told his people to prepare for a "long and arduous march" referring to the famine the sanctions will bring, indicating that he's in it for the long haul and won't be giving in to sanctions any time soon. they will allow millions of their citizens to die of starvation (they have done it before!) to keep power and have told them so, adding that allegience to their leader is more important than their lives. all the while, increasing their military and nuclear capabilities, blatantly defying what anyone else in the world thinks. they have even threatened China for "betraying socialism".

so, what will the world do about it? - nothing. what will happen? -who knows. maybe they will wait until the country is on its knees then offer to give them billions if they give up their nukes. or maybe Kim will decide that 'suicide by war' is a better option than giving in to international demands. we"ll see...

Did North Korea Go Crazy or is it Something Else?

Comment.The truth hurts.

It's much worse than that! WITHOUT CAUSE, the US bombed North Korea back to the Stone Age in the eraly 1950s and genocided 3 to 4 million North Koreans in the process. For over 60 years the US has refused to sign a Peace Treaty and is threatening to destroy North Korea again. Moreover, having regard to what the US is doing in Syria and has recently done in Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Somalia and elsewhere, the US threat is REAL. IF nothing else, North Korea is entitled to forcefully remind South Korea and Japan of what could happen if they continue to support US aggression against North Korea. Also, surely it is reasonable that Kim Jong Un does not want to end up like Muammar Gadaffi, nor does he want his nation to be treated like Iraq and Libya; or even like Syria,

you really need to give up these 'conspiracy theory' websites. "bombed back to the stone age"?? there is no peace treaty, exactly because that did not happen. China supported north Korea and would not have allowed that to happen at the time, hence the cessation of hostilities rather than a peace treaty. they have the fourth largest military in the world, advanced missile and now nuclear technology. hardly the "stone age" . "genocide"? never heard that one before. however, due to the stubbornness of and mismanagement by, the North Korean regime, up to 3.5 million of its people died due to famine in just 4 years (1994-1998). this happened after Russian communism collapsed along with Russian trade and support. China came to the rescue, being the only major communist country left. they are now telling their own people that this will happen again. how many other modern, civilised countries would sit back and starve to death while the government (who won't starve to death) spent billions on weaponry??

now even China are on side with the U.S. against N.K. and its not as if they have anything to fear. What does that tell you?....

North Korea says it has successfully carried out its fifth nuclear test, in continued defiance of UN resolutions.

A 5.3 magnitude tremor had earlier been detected near its nuclear test site.

South Korea believes it is the North's biggest-ever test, raising fears it has made significant nuclear advances.

So much for all the sanctions.

The United Nations is about as much use as it's  predecessor the League of Nations, totally useless. It has only reacted to armed aggression once , and that ironically was in Korea in 1950/53. In Yugoslavia, UN troops had to stand by and watch as men and boys were driven off to to be slaughtered.

With any luck China will get rid of the nut job.

This situation has been simmering for quite some time.  I wonder if North Korea tests another missile  would that be the tipping point?

Quiet  on this thread which is surprising.  Anyway  North Korea tests new rocket  engine and continues unabated.  This is only in my opinion going to end one way.
