Heavy snow in Buxton, Derbyshire, during winter of 1947

Recommended Posts

Great shots there from my local area, How the area would cope these days beggars  the question. 2010 was bad/good enough! I was blocked in for weeks here.

It must have been a hard time for many.

the ink had barely dried on the German surrender and food and fuel rationing was hitting harder than ever and then they had one of the most severe winters on record.

and I though 1979 was bad up here in the Pennines but looking at that film, 1947 looked much worse.
