Hi, last I checked the Humber wasn't even in a yellow MetO

warning, but my word it is gale force here and set to be worse later.

A lorry has blown over onto its side on the Humber Bridge.

Can I just ask these are sustained wind speeds aren't they and don't show the gusts?  Or do they?

I have no idea. All I know is that you have to keep manually refreshing to get the latest info, it doesn't update automatically. Got the link from a Scandinavian friend.

Thanks I think its sustained wind speeds well it ties in with this area if it is.  The wind speeds to the south of the core are almost sustained hurricane force winds if that's correct so gusts must be 90+ MPH.  I am happy to be corrected though.

I suspect you're correct. What I like about that link is that you can see the dynamics and the interactions of different airflows. I'm crap at following the jargon and really need to see animations to grasp what's going on. I've also found it useful for keeping an eye on the pole. Just centre your view bang above the pole and you see just how severe Henry is in comparison.

Me too - I could actually just stare at that map for ages haha sad but true.  You can follow the airflow being sucked down towards the low pressure it's pretty neat.

The map is very indistinct and showed the arrow well off the coast. I speak Gaelic (Irish Gaelic) and hesitated for a moment but thought it could be "sound" in Scots Gaelic. I don't know this geographic area, so sorry for my lack of knowledge. Does it mean the way of the cows?

It looks fierce anyway...stay safe.

Sunny Sheffield peaked at 59mph around lunch time moderating since then. A little higher than expected.
