Cold front  approaching, getting progressively stronger wind gusts.  I wonder if we'll have a squall. Temp 8.4c but not for long.

it looks like the snow will be above 200-250m and the best chance of a streamer is going to be East Lancashire, West Yorkshire just North of M62.

Unfortunately it didn't happen, with ourselves being at the northern edge of the overnight showers.

today looks like another "close but no cigar" moment with the majority of the snow showers staying well to the north of the region and I'd imagine that tomorrow's threat of snow over high ground will be transient at best with the cold air once again retreating to the same position that it seems to have held for the last three winters.

possibly quite windy again on Monday as the next system heads in but even this looks to be further north than was originally expected with the strongest winds across central and northern Scotland.

one crumb of comfort though is that at least we are now in more westerly regime so at least the threat of something interesting exists even if the reality is the usual downgrades to mediocrity.

Amazing how New York can usually get an upgrade in snow potential when our forecast two flakes always seems to end up as one.

Well last njght was freaky! Worse than friday night, git into bed around 1am, all is quiet and whoosh!!!! Frightened the living daylights out if me! It must have been a squall line or something, just came from nowhere and smashed into the bedroom window and then lashed down, it was quite severe winds after that fir a while but then calmed. Windy now but not like that was, defo a squall line. Its cold today too

Showers dying out over Ireland before they get to the Irish Sea!!

Very cold in the wind, 40-50mph gusts and 3.5c = Sub zero windchill. Gonna get wrapped up and take the dogs out they'll need their jackets on too!

Heavy snow and hail showers at the moment but they are short lived and far enough apart for any settling snow to thaw again.

still it makes a pleasant change to actually see falling snow.

Nothing here yet, a little too far south... interesting met update tonight for 'Snow & Ice'... it's made thing a little more interesting but as we know with wintry showers, they can be hit and miss.

If it's anything like we're getting, your not missing out on much.

heavy showers with temporary coverings but these are soon melting into a slushy mess.

as you say though, possibly an interesting night coming up for the region and I just hope that we can all get something, if not from this but over the next few days.

Yep a little hail shower just zipped through, very fast changing conditions, bright sunshine, dark skies, quick hail shower, and then sunshine again..

One of those days when the views are fantastic.

its just a shame that getting out and enjoying them isn't top of my priorities today although no doubt tomorrow I could squeeze in a six hour walk in the cold wet rain that would no doubt have been snow but for a quickly arriving mild sector.

Unfortunately the devil is in the detail as usual and anything worthy of a mention is reserved for the Scottish Highlands and possibly the Lakeland Fells, North Pennines.

for the rest of us, myself included I feel that both altitude and latitude will be the spoiler so unless a slight covering of slush floats your boat then I'm very much in the zero chance camp.

Always happy to be proved wrong though and spend a couple of hours out in the morning with my occasional best mate, snow shovel.

edit.....snowing again here.
