Horrible days weather, not a lot else to say really.

apart from keep getting told that at least it's incredibly mild for the time of year but it's not really due to the cloud, rain and wind.

if I must have it unseasonably mild, any chance of some sunshine to at least get the benefit from it.

Rant over and time for something to eat.

Quite a nice day here all things considered. A bit windy but we are used to it here.  Nice to have some sun again.

Bit calmer now after a wet and wild morning & early afternoon, gusts close to 70mph for a time with reports of trees down and school/road closures either from the flooding or trees down and structural damage, Cockermouth School got closed because of some roof bits blowing off.

Dry here again. :-) Torrential rain in Southport practically down the road. This is a strange place.

Cumbria yet again felt the full force of the remnants of storm Gertrude I think it has been made. These long drawn SW airflows with the Lake District at the end of the firing range are grating on me now - we've simply had enough now, its worse than winter 13/14. Roads flooded again... really could do with a high pressure coming onto the scene, its been 3 months now of preety continuous wind, rain and cloud. Sunshine has been in hibernation since late October. February traditionally sees a drying out.  The intensity of rainfall this winter has been most notable thanks to the tropical airstream adding extra moisture - I continue to blame that awful El Nino - don't ever come back in similar guise.

You can sense I've grown tired of this winter now.

Showers coming to life off the Irish Sea... could be heavy spell of rain before the night's through.  More flooding problems for those areas which don't need it.

Very wet again this morning, rivers and lake running very high after yesterdays deluge. Glenridding Hotel flooded for a fourth time yesterday. Diggers were back in the beck this morning, I hear something like 3000 tonnes of rock has now been cleared from the village and beck since Desmond. Incredible to see it all pilled up in a field next to the steamer pier. Really hoping for a lengthy dry, settled period to now take hold. I'm sick to the back teeth of rain!

Some flooding on the way to work this morning after a very wet night and intense rainfall from about 5am until about 7.30.

Temperature 11.5c at 6.30 this morning, now 5.2c as the colder air has dug in.
