I do wonder if the lying snow adds to modifying the atmosphere enough to keep it on the white side.

Yes, I mention this yesterday. Initially the endothermic  melting process kicks in and then the snow cover  acts as an insulator and radiates cold.

Really pelting down now must be 7" out there!

Pelting it down just quickly shovelled, salted/gritted around house, must have been another inch in last hour 8 inches plus now.....

Still snowing beautifully here. I want this to be just the starter and get more snow in days to come but looking at the charts it is unlikely.

The Asperge was showing a snow event for Sunday evening but this is projected to be way too far west now.

Turned to snow at midnight here 7 hours leaving 6 cm covering now melting :(

6CM! i didn't see a flake! strange how much better it is for snow in your location than here considering where both a similar altitude and near the coast but im further north, really sickening.

Guess you mean east :) yes the snow line has eased eastwards - Warrington area was white over, now largely green in Altrincham area but still snow by the airport and east of M60/M61. Milder air is moving through Yorkshire now off North Sea, reporting rain just over the other side of the tops now in the Yorkshire regional thread.

Well the DCC tractor-plough made the side-road usable here in Whaley for about a hour, now it's all covered with snow again.

the road from Oldham to Huddersfield is barely passable and there are buses and cars colliding into each other. total gridlock. avoid saddleworth and up to the m62

I think thats it till next winter, 3rd winter in a row with barely any snow whilst missing out on 2/3 snow events by a few miles this winter alone, really grinds my mongooseing gears.

Hi

Easter i believe.

Just found the article.

Derbyshire pub owner trapped in snow for five days

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-derbyshire-22044883

Maybe Easter this year may deliver. We can live in hope.It is not that far away.

I suppose we dare not look that far away.Dare we.I wonder if any of you dare guess.

Dry here absolutely nothing at the moment.Cloudy.

Back to rain again. I think the snow line is driving east and west along the M62 at the M6!

Wow I'm so happy for you mate.  Any new pics pls? ???

On a side note I notice it's very heavy and organised which as it moves south think it bares well for us Midlands lot . Also the fact that colder850's embedded could well mean more snow than rain on high ground where as many of you had 6/7 hours of rain first . Certainly beginning to think we may be in for some later !

The birdbath is within the most open-area of the garden to give you some idea of how much has currently fallen.  Well In excess of 15cm here currently.
