NOT rain NOT sleet but SNOW!!!! :yahoo:

Thought you'd get there eventually... :)  Moving gradually eastwards as well so should maybe effect a good part of the North West before the days out.

Even in the middle of a relatively boiling Irish Sea it's falling as sleet at least. Struggling to understand the BBC predictions of rain for places like St Helens and Warrington.

I think the BBC have panicked with the radar echoes, bringing it in earlier, but there seems to be anoprop, and this coming in before 3pm seems unlikely.

Leading edge of PPN looks a bit further east on the radar compared to the NetWx-SR... Hope the milder air doesn't come further east or it won't stay as snow for long!

Someone, somwhere, will be lucky out of all this and be sat directly underneath the band for a good 6+ hours of snowfall. As thing's are going right now it seems the uk snow-forecast map is fairing well in terms of that area expected which is the central/west Mids.

My thoughts for areas south and west of the Region.

PPN will start as light Rain for an hour or two before turning to light snow from around 7pm

and staying as snow until front clears

for these areas 2-3cm coverings

Sweet spot I think will be around the Manchester area around 5-6cm here

maybe totally wrong but these are my current thoughts

Just depends how Far East the precip goes I think. Milder air gradually filtering eastwards throughout the day. But still St Helens and Warrington may be ok for some falling snow on the leading edge but more eastwards it then goes more it will start to turn to rain later.

Still 0.9C here at the warmest time of day :) colder than Met Office forecasts!

You're wrong. It'll be the other way around, if anything. Rain to snow.

Precip starting to hit parts of Lancashire now, but it may be so light it could be anaphrop to start with.  Blackpool/Fleetwood/Southport/Liverpool might just see a few specks falling.

As I say, in the car up Rivington pike. Bit of sledging (assuming there's enough) then hot chocolate in the barn. Lovely
