Can confirm I now have rain, radar looks heavier than it actually is too.

Has Anyone N, S or west Manchester have much snow?

North Manchester doing OK as well as East Manchester.  Here, near to Ramsbottom, 3-4cm and still snowing.

Tons of snow here. no buses since 7 and snow still falling. gritters have done main roads but not side roads.  covering footprints quickly.  lots of roads closed on the peaks.

DCC now has the tractors doing side-roads where the Gritters can't reach, not seen them doing that since Jan 2015.

If you managed to get to work to areas like Manchester from higher parts of Oldham this morning, might be worth having a word with your boss and ask to leave early as it's beefing up again here.  If you live near the main road you'll be okay, but any small side roads not treated will be tricky to navigate.

Heavier now.

If only this was January. Local weather station reports 15mm precipitation since midnight, 3 degrees colder and it would all have been snow.

Little or no sign of thaw here still.  Still proper snow is falling here.

It took me 2 hours to get from Bacup to Bury and I have a 4x4 so I will be leaving early, its not the actual snow its the way other people drive in it!!

I only just noticed the wind is definately changed direction from westerly to more of a northerly direction.

Is really coming down again in Salford, big flakes too. My car is getting covered again and only went out in it an hour ago. My friends up in Edenfield are snowed in!

Still coming down here fairly heavy. A beautiful winter scene out there. Not many been able to get out of the street this morning. Not a chance in my rear wheel drive transit. A rare event this. far more snow than expected. Just been out to shove a ruler in it and we have about 11cm on the wall outside. Getting deeper by approx. 2 to 3 cm an hour even now.

Interesting tweet from Buxton MRT

The avalanche risk in the Peak District is extremely high today. Wind blown slabs & cornices are everywhere.
