Air frost last night, min -0.2°C. Game over for snow this week IMBY. At least that brings my air frost total up to 2 for the winter, 1 for Feb.

It has only just struck me how little fog there has been around here, this season. A sign of lack of high pressure and or clear skies. This despite a lot of moisture! Infact mist has been pretty much absent as well.

I had a quick scan of my time-lapses and the last time we had fog was overnight 2nd/3rd November last year.

The Met have issued the advisory, but the wind is now coming from more the north which is normally rubbish for any snow here a long way inland (apart from when troughs are involved). Ideally the wind needs to be more NE/ENE to bring the snow more westwards & over the Pennines. As ever we will see. Turning very dull out there though.

We've certainly hit a new low this winter and definitely the worst winter in my memory. Even the much maligned 2006/2007 winter gave me a stunning snowfall in February. It's actually made me depressed this year- terrible really.

Some spectacular looking clouds to my East but the track is taking them down the Pennines rather than across them and any that do get towards the north west side are breaking up.

i'd have thought that places not far into Yorkshire are getting something though although the way this winter has gone so far, it's probably rain.

What about 2013-14? Was not that worse?

It certainly was here.

A few flakes falling here at the moment so at least it is possible for something to cross the Pennines and escape from Yorkshire.

At very best it's on a par! This winter edges it for me as I've seen very little snow and 90% of my walks to work I've either been soaked through or battered by wind. As a package (not just basing on cold and snow) it has been horrid.

At least the storm of Feb 2014 gave some interest.

2013-14 was the worst I've ever known here for lack of snow.

about 2cm early one morning in mid November and then nothing at all for the remainder of the winter and I can't even remember putting grit on our usually lethal when icy drive.

plenty of rain though and no shortage of high winds but for snow it was dire.

No snow here 2006/7, 2011/12, 2013/14, now 2015/16.

Had a light snow shower in the past 30 mins, no where near heavy enough for a covering though. Still it's promising that they are getting over from the east. They just need to be more organised and heavier.

And less of a northerly element to them.

Plenty of showers heading in to the north east and North Yorkshire off the North Sea but the Pennines are ripping them to shreds.

the alignment is just not right for ourselves to get anything other than scraps and unless any troughs develop, it looks like remaking that way.

on the positive side though, at least we're missing out on snow because it's dry rather than because we're getting rain instead.

that option comes later in the week when the usual spoilers come into play:wallbash:

A beautiful winters day here,my hunt for snow is now been put on

The back burner for another year,my attention now turning to

Spring warmth, but in the law of sod,it would not surprise me to

See a cold spell and snow in March

Odds on I'd say, probably at Easter.

This is the worst winter i have ever recorded in 20 years.

these are the stats imby throughout this entire winter.

Snow: 0cm  not even a dusting,  very wet light snow which would not stick due to exceptionally warm pavements.

Ground frost: 1, Air frost 1 but nothing during January and February.

Average temperature +8C throughout December, January and so far February

This winter has seen the highest snowfalls across the Northern Hemisphere...and yet 0cm imby....something is very wrong!

Later this year we are moving to be with family in lapland Finland permanently.  Snow guaranteed at least 6/7 months a year..

You have more chance of a white Easter then a white Christmas in this country, but the way and how bad it has been down here this winter....better start getting used to the idea winter is done (never started, or it's delayed and we get winter in spring time)...a few cold days, but thats nothing unless there is snow on the deck for the kids.
