Why do the showers not form off cumbrian coast? is it because of IOM?

Gritters out on the M53 on the Wirral,  may be they are expecting something

I do think this setup could at least see our first falling snow showers of the winter tonight. The showers so far have been a hail/sleet mix. Can't post any charts as on phone, might do later.

I hope so we all missed out last time. Just had another hail shower.

Also Feb in general from what I've seen an heard model wise looks to be our best chance of a least one decent cold spell for the UK as a whole

Had some snow earlier, all it did was wet the ground. Don't think I will get a covering this time around it's just not cold enough dew point is fine for snow but air temp is around 3C.....3C lower and it would be much better for settling snow.

Very messy wintry mix of sleet/hail/wet snow and for the lucky ones who reside in the very highest peaks maybe they are getting a covering.  Looks dramatic when it's falling with the wind blowing, but mostly melting on impact.

Ever tried introducing the word 'graupel' into polite, non weather-related conversation, James? The best reaction I've seen is a blank stare!:D

Yes I have haha. I get exclamations of WTF is Graupel?

Had a drive up the A635 towards Holmfirth, settling nicely up there and near blizzard conditions at times.

Beginning to settle here too but I don't see it being anything more than a few cm accumulated on the tops,

To far south here, dispite the warnings, can see all the shower

Quite bizarre cannot get PPN from a westerly

Snow showers have left a light covering on all surfaces.

Four or five flashes of lightning with some thunder from a shower as it passed to the north of here a short while ago.
