It gets better, showers now forming off the coast right beside me to give the south of the region a good dumping.

I'm amazed, St Helens isn't a million miles from here, and it's light rain here, would you believe! BT what's happening in Runcorn?

Anyone with a 5 min radar, look at how the pptn as it hits the coast around Southport has been pepping up as it comes inland over the last 30 mins.

Had a brief burst of snow in a heavier pocket of precipitation. I have a feeling had we had the intensity I wouldn't be sat here looking at sopping wetness right now.

Just looked on the radar Crewe, you must be literally right on the boundary. Most of the UK under the precipitation is getting snow, we are so damn unlucky.

Although there is a covering, it is still a little patchy in parts but maybe in the more covered parts there is about a centre metre or 2. Looks like we are on the last stretch as far as this band is concerned.

Can't help but think if this occured overnight right away after an early frost but I suppose beggars can't be choosers!

The band is backbuilding guys! I think even areas further south and close to the coast have a chance now!

I hope so!

Finally a bit of a pep-up - still smallish flakes but the intensity has increased slightly.  Hopefully the tail will have a sting in it, as the band of snow/sleet eventually clears out of our region.

Want the sky to clear now so the temps can plummet to preserve the snow!! Currently 0.4c so not much melt happening.
